Permanent Media War: The Strategic Provocation of Bloc Identitaire & an Interview with Fabrice Robert » Digital Crusades As a researcher into political communication my current research interest is the mainstreaming of peripheral parties via ownership of salient issues, and their strategic dissemination. My doctoral research uses the democratic nationalist populist parties of Western Europe and their criticism of Islamism as case studies. Whilst doing research into the Front National (FN) I came across a movement seemingly unknown in the English-speaking world – the Bloc Identitaire (BI) . Considering my background reading into the Flemish Vlaams Belang , and the northern Italian (Padanian) Lega Nord I was interested in another manifestation of a political tendency I will refer to as Europeanist ethno-regionalism (EET). Unlike the FN or the Sweden Democrats for example, the BI were different in their focus on the primacy of the regional identities that composed France, and perhaps more importantly their guerrilla media tactics, more typical of the Anarchist movement. YEN - Youth of European Nationalities Syrian Opposition factions in the Syrian Civil War The South: Daraa and Quneitra The southern provinces of Daraa and Quneitra were the first to revolt against the Assad regime, experiencing the first protests in March 2011 in response to the arrest and torture of a group of teenagers. As the situation spiraled out of control, Daraa also experienced the initial violent crackdown by police, and later the first major regime military operation to suppress protests that had proven too large and sustained for the local security forces to handle. Being the home of a disproportionate amount of officers in the pre-war SAA, the province also rapidly became a nucleus of the armed rebellion, alongside pockets in Homs and the Jisr al-Shoughour-to-Jabal al-Zawiya corridor in Idlib. Daraa city was even the scene of one of the first acts of armed resistance during the uprising, when ad-hoc militia held off the SAA’s armored assault for around a week in late April 2011 as the military’s siege began.

Folk Advance – folkadvance.org Countries & Territories | The Travelers' Century Club This is the Travelers’ Century Club’s official list of countries and territories, a total of 327 as of Jan. 1, 2018. Although some are not actually countries in their own right, they have been included because they are removed from the parent country (see the Territory Status page for detailed criteria). After consideration as to how long one must have stayed in a country or territory to qualify, it was decided that even the shortest visit would suffice — even if only a port-of-call, or a plane fuel stop. This greatly widens the field and will give the traveler a better chance to qualify for one of the most unusual clubs in the world. Anyone who has visited 100 or more of the places listed below is eligible to join. Solidarité Identites List of sovereign states Wikimedia list article This list of sovereign states provides an overview of sovereign states around the world, with information on their status and recognition of their sovereignty. Membership within the United Nations system divides the 206 listed states into three categories: 193 member states,[1] 2 observer states, and 11 other states. The sovereignty dispute column indicates states whose sovereignty is undisputed (191 states) and states whose sovereignty is disputed (15 states, out of which there are 5 member states, 1 observer state and 9 other states). Compiling a list such as this can be a difficult and controversial process, as there is no definition that is binding on all the members of the community of nations concerning the criteria for statehood. List of states[edit] Criteria for inclusion[edit] The dominant customary international law standard of statehood is the declarative theory of statehood, which was codified by the Montevideo Convention of 1933. Erwan Ollivro

Dependent territory A dependency is commonly distinguished from subnational entities in that they are not considered to be part of the integral territory of the governing state. A subnational entity typically represents a division of the state proper, while a dependent territory often maintains a great degree of autonomy from the controlling state. Historically, most colonies were considered to be dependencies of their controlling state. Some political entities have a special position recognized by international treaty or agreement resulting in a certain level of autonomy or differences in immigration rules.
