10+ No-Signup Collaboration Tools You Can Use in 10 Seconds
What do you think of when you hear the word “collaboration”? Do you associate it with the frustrating clunkiness of trying to synchronize everyone’s work? Many collaboration tools require an account to even get started before you benefit from their collaboration features. That in itself negates the act of swift collaborating, with people coming from all ends of the spectrum to combine ideas, talent and work. Many believe that collaboration should be as “painless” as possible. The Best Ways To Make Comic Strips Online I decided to create another quick “The Best…” list today rating sites that allow you to create online comic strips. These can be excellent opportunities for English Language Learners to be able to focus more time on developing language, writing, and storytelling skills instead of having to focus on creating drawings. Of course, I’m not denigrating the role of art in the classroom. It’s just that there are a number of online sites that make that part easier, and might make both writing and reading a little more engaging and attractive. I’m differentiating “comic strips” from cartoons. There are many sites that let you add speech balloons to single images off the Web. The sites here let you tell a story in several frames. My criteria for including a site on this list include it being free, accessible to English Language Learners, and appearing to have some monitoring of its site to help monitor content so it appears to be appropriate for classroom use. Here are picks for Category 1: Bubblr!

untitled A lesson framework for getting learners to prepare and present infographics One of the key aims of EAP infographics, along with examining what it means to teach academic English and presenting useful infographics for classroom teaching, is to enhance learning through learners developing their own visuals. With this in mind, today’s post offers a flexible plan for taking learners through the process of making their first infographics. While my intention is to give a lesson plan that can be used time and again, what you’ll find in today’s post is a thorough, detailed plan for the first time you get learners designing their own visuals. As such, several of the steps described today will not be necessary in subsequent lessons. To make this as clear as possible, I’d suggest stages 1 to 5 are mainly necessary for your first lessons; most if not all can be skipped in subsequent infographic classes. Before we get started, I should mention that the plan below is for a series of lessons; you’ll probably need four lessons of about 50 minutes each to get through this plan.

What is a Platform? A platform is a business model that creates value by facilitating exchanges between two or more interdependent groups, usually consumers and producers. Successful platforms facilitate exchanges by reducing transaction costs and/or by enabling externalized innovation. It’s important to remember that a platform is a business model, not just a piece of technology. Marketplaces can also be categorized as providing commoditized or un-commoditized services. For example, Uber provides a commoditized service because the passenger doesn’t care about much besides getting from point A to B in the car they selected. Applico’s Ten Most Promising Platforms of 2015 Takeaways

10 Intriguing Photographs to Teach Close Reading and Visual Thinking Skills Photo Updated, March 17, 2016 | We have published a companion piece: “8 Compelling Mini-Documentaries to Teach Close Reading and Critical Thinking Skills.” Ever want your students to slow down and notice details when they read — whether they’re perusing a book, a poem, a map or a political cartoon? Young people often want to hurry up and make meaning via a quick skim or a cursory glance when a text can demand patience and focus. Closely reading any text, whether written or visual, requires that students proceed more slowly and methodically, noticing details, making connections and asking questions. We’ve selected 10 photos from The Times that we’ve used previously in our weekly “What’s Going On in This Picture?” Below, we offer ideas from students and teachers who have engaged with these images for ways to use them, or images like them, to teach close reading and visual thinking skills. 1. I stumbled across your site while looking for alternate ideas. 2. You can use our “What’s Going On?”
