Quandary Home Page Quandary is an application for creating Web-based Action Mazes. An Action Maze is a kind of interactive case-study; the user is presented with a situation, and a number of choices as to a course of action to deal with it. On choosing one of the options, the resulting situation is then presented, again with a set of options. Working through this branching tree is like negotiating a maze, hence the name "Action Maze". Action mazes can be used for many purposes, including problem-solving, diagnosis, procedural training, and surveys/questionnaires. Quandary is only available for Windows (although it also works perfectly on Wine under Linux). The Quandary site has now been moved to the University of Victoria.

Learning technology is clearly situated in our wider environment and how we engage with it is bound up with our culture and history. This means that when looking to the future, the ‘wisdom of crowds’ is likely to provide as rich a picture of what is to come as expert opinion. In this workshop we will follow Ratcliffe (2002), who declared “foresight is largely a matter of conjecture, and at the heart of conjecture lies conversation” by introducing participants to a simple conversational technique known as “Seven Questions” (Amara and Lipinsky, 1983). f.lux: software to make your life better Digital professionalism... if only it were that easy Image: Doctor reading articles by rosefirerising The longer I am online and the more I become immersed in being online the more complex this existence seems. I want to talk about some principles for "Digital Professionalism" which have been put forward by Rachel Ellaway in the journal Medical Teacher last year. The journal is paywalled so I am going to give the principles here. The 7 principles are: Principle #1: establish and sustain an on online professional presence that befits your responsibilities while representing your interests. Principle #2: use privacy controls to manage more personal aspects of your online profile and do not make anything public that you would not be comfortable defending as professionally appropriate in a court of law. Principle #3: think carefully and critically about how what you say or do will be perceived by others and act with appropriate restraint in online communications.

eXe The eXe project developed a freely available Open Source authoring application to assist teachers and academics in the publishing of web content without the need to become proficient in HTML or XML markup. Resources authored in eXe can be exported in IMS Content Package, SCORM 1.2, or IMS Common Cartridge formats or as simple self-contained web pages. eXe grew out of the ​New Zealand Government Tertiary Education Commission's eCollaboration Fund and was led by the ​University of Auckland, ​The Auckland University of Technology, and Tairawhiti Polytechnic. eXe was named a finalist in the New Zealand round of the ​IMS Global Learning Impact Awards 2008 and went on to claim a Leadership Award at the international judging. There are now several projects inspired by eXe around the world.
