Horror films are great because they appeal to our most base natures, but also because they are allowed to be as loopy and imaginative as they want...well, at lest they used to be. These days, imagination has been replaced by lots of gore and cheap 'jump-out-of-your-seat' shocks. Horror films no longer follow you home and haunt your dreams in the stillness of the night. 10. This twisted gem from the eighties owes a lot to Freddy Krueger, but is also original and creepy in its own way. 9. Rant Dissident cop-out on privacy As Cory Doctorow points out in a Guardian interview, technological and cultural factors are placing personal privacy at ever greater risk. Doctorow says there should be greater social value put on privacy (eg by allowing children more privacy, rather than constantly surveilling them). But, as one of the comments under Proctorow's interview points out, it's not as if dissident campaigning groups are setting a good example. Quite the opposite. A rather depressing example is given of Corporate Watch (together with a media activist website) showing no regard for the privacy of a private individual... when it suits their purposes (and I suspect they're not alone among activist groups in not respecting the confidentiality of private correspondence). Perhaps the presumed "justification" is that it's okay to betray someone's confidence if they're "not one of us" (ie have the "wrong" views)? It may seem like a relatively trivial error of judgment. Documentary?

Digital narration for the 21st Century How to Make a Duct Tape Wallet There are actually quite a few projects you can make from duct tape, today I’ll show you how to make a simple wallet. Duct tape is silver and available at Wal Mart, hardware stores and home supply stores. There’s also something called Duck Tape, which is a brand of tape that comes in a variety of fun colors, available from craft supply stores. We actually used a combination of duct tape and Duck tape for our duct tape wallet. This would make an ideal Father’s Day gift! What’s really fun about this particular tutorial, is that this wallet was constructed in its entirety by an 11 year old girl.
