How To Make Cake Pops | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn Cake balls, cake pops, cakesicles — have you tried them? They swept the internet like a tidal wave over the last few years, thanks in part to the delightful and amazing creations of Bakerella and other creative cooks. We finally decided to try them, and while ours don't achieve the heights of more talented confectionery artists, they tasted pretty darn good! Cake pops are basically little smushed balls of cake and frosting (kind of like when you used to smash your birthday cake all in pieces, maybe with ice cream, and eat it as goop). You bake up a cake, let it cool, tear it into fine crumbs, stir in something to hold it all together, and roll it in balls. They're terribly cute, and they're also a great way to use up leftover cake. These are incredibly delicious, over the top little morsels. Here's how to do it yourself, and do it from scratch, too. Cake Ball Mix Bake the cake and let it cool completely on a rack. Making Cake Pops

Honey Lime Chicken (inspired by Sunset Magazine) Leave it to Sunset Magazine to come up with a variety of delicious marinades to suit any purpose and serve them up in one cool issue (August 2010). Recently I made the two "Perfect for Seafood" marinades - Lemongrass, Chile and Coconut Milk Shrimp and Chile Ginger Shrimp. Both were fantastic, so this time I decided to try the honey lime marinade from the "Perfect for Chicken" section and I was very pleased with the outcome. It doesn't get any easier than this - 5 simple ingredients (not including the salt and pepper), marinade overnight, and throw on the grill. Serves 4-6 Marinade: 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (2 limes), plus the zest of both limes 2 Tablespoons honey 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper 2 pounds of chicken (I used boneless skin-on breasts, but use whatever suits you) In a large zip top plastic bag combine all of the ingredients except the chicken.

Honey Sesame Chicken Somehow I have gotten on this Asian kick lately and I'm loving every bit of it. I am finding out just how easy making these meals are and they all are so yummy! I'm also pretty darn proud of myself for totally keeping to my meal plan this week. I chose dishes to make and didn't really specify a day but the night before I needed to make dinner I would choose which one to make. I came across the blog My Kitchen Snippets quite some time ago. Grumpy enjoyed this meal very much.

Linguine with Garlicky Bread Crumbs With My Husband away on a business trip for a few days this week, I kept the cooking simple. Often letting the boys choose their dinner, thankfully, a vegetable was always chosen as part of the meal since they both have been learning about eating healthy foods. I don't always indulge my little men, but with Daddy away I thought I'd be extra nice to them - and, it doesn't hurt that their desires are simpler than what I normally make. I must admit that I am a pasta lover. Yes, in addition to my addiction to chocolate you can add pasta to that list. I have managed to acquire a taste for whole wheat pastas, even though my family has not fully taken to them. So, what did I make you might be asking? My Oldest didn't care for it, but the garlic flavor was perhaps a bit much for his taste. Now, if you are in the mood for some pasta creations, you may want to check out these ideas: Good Things Catered made a Spicy Garlic Herbed Pasta that is a simple side dish for any night of the week.
