THE REAL TRICK: TURNING A TEST INTO A GAME

THE REAL TRICK: TURNING A TEST INTO A GAME
At the beginning of February, Svetlana Kandybovich from ELT-CATION asked me if I would design a board game template in PowerPoint for her. I had some free time and I was happy to help because Svetlana has always been so supportive of this page. However, I did ask if she would be willing to write a guest post about using the board game for tekhnologic. Luckily for me, Svetlana agreed. I hope you enjoy reading her post as much as I did! “It’s still magic even if you know how it’s done.” ― Terry Pratchett Over my rather long career as a teacher, I believe that I have received what I would consider the greatest compliment my students could ever give me. Yet, again and again, we have no other choice but to ‘test out’ much fun of learning. The great magician Harry Houdini once said: Option 1: One player Ladder Game

Irregular verbs games Irregular verbs are the most important and at the same time for many students the most difficult part of learning English. Technology Would you rather carry a flip phone or only use a desktop computer? 12 ideas for reviewing vocabulary I’ve kept a list of all the vocabulary that has come up in class during the last few weeks of summer school. It’s a fair bit – about 200 words. Here are some ideas for reviewing vocabulary in groups. For these tasks I didn’t use all 200 words, but about 60 or so. To prepare, give students the word list and get them to cut all the words up so each one is on a different slip of paper.

6 Google Jamboard activities your students will love! – The TEFL Zone One thing I miss about face-to-face teaching is my whiteboard. I miss writing on it, drawing, watching my students play whiteboard games or draw funny pictures! Whiteboards are a great learning tool not just for students, but teachers as well. Taking photos of my daily whiteboards really helped me reflect on my teaching when doing Delta Module 2. The bigger the whiteboard, the happier I was! Most platforms now come with a whiteboard but it’s not always interactive, so teachers often say: “the lesson is too teacher-centred”.
