The Victorian Web: An Overview French 17: An Annual Descriptive Bibliography of French Seventeenth-century Studies. French 17 seeks to provide an annual survey of the work done each year in the general area of seventeenth-century French studies. It is as descriptive and complete as possible and includes summaries of articles, books, and book reviews. An item may be included in several numbers should a review of that item appear in subsequent years. French 17 lists not only works dealing with literary history and criticism, but also those which treat bibliography, linguistics and language, politics, society, philosophy, science, religion and the arts. The French 17 website is available only to journal subscribers. For technical assistance, please contact the CDRH at cdrh@unl.edu . To try again, visit .

Geofftech - Tube - Silly Tube Maps Prior to March 2006 Geofftech.co.uk has been up on the internet since 1999, and had tube related content on it almost immediately with a quiz about station names. It really grew though in 2002 onwards when I put up a page about the attempt I was going to make on getting the World Record for travelling around the system in the fastest time possible. Over time the pages grew and I added more and more content to the site. At the time I was a big fan of the site Going Underground blog, from which I spotted a 'map mash up' - an alternative London Underground map. I remembered that I'd been sent a few copies of others like this on email by people who knew I liked the tube, and so rather than have been being forwarded continually around the ether I put them all up in one place on my site, and called them 'Sillymaps' - because that's mainly what they were. It contained fun things ... not just 'mash-ups' of maps, but useful things. e.g. Wednesday March 8th 2006 Thursday March 9th 2006 On this post?

Marie-Hélène Wronecki London Underground History - Disused Stations on London's Underground Hywel Williams Since moving to live near London a few years ago, one of my interests has been the London Underground, the oldest and one of the busiest underground railway networks in the world. I'm not a train spotter by any means, but I find the history and background of London's subterranean railway fascinating. One of the things I find most interesting is the changing history of the railway, of which there is still much hidden evidence. For example, look through the window as you travel between Tottenham Court Road and Holborn on the Central Line and you'll see a station - where no passengers have alighted since 1932. There are about 40 abandoned or relocated stations on the Underground network along its entire 255 miles (408Km) of trackway - some subsurface and some above ground. There are 3 visitors reading these pages at the moment including yourself. One point to note is that in these pages, all lines are referred by their contemporary names.
