Online Art Education Degree

The focus on STEM fields was initiated to increase global competitiveness and the project does have its merits. However, it has left the arts languishing far off in the periphery. This is quite unfortunate, as art education is known to improve academic performance. - On average, students who study the arts for 4 years in high school score 98 points higher on the SATs compared to those who study the same for half a year or less. - Students who took up music appreciation scored 61 points higher on the verbal section and 42 points higher on the math section. Of the elementary schools with arts, the most common subjects revolve around music at 94% and visual studies at 83%.

Training in the arts has been shown to improve creativity and innovation. Science & Engineering Practices in the NGSS. Understanding Science. National STEM Centre. Alden Wright. Floating Farms Alden launched his hydroponics unit with a bit of history, teaching students that the Aztecs designed some of the earliest hydroponics systems out of necessity. Simple Soda Bottle Systems Once their raft gardens sprouted, students prepared to create individual hydroponic setups by gathering clear 2-liter soda bottles, then selecting seeds to grow.

“My team teacher (who is also my wife) and I spent a day with our 60 students building the planters,” says Alden. Hole in the cap. About Wonderopolis. Welcome to Wonderopolis®, a place where natural curiosity and imagination lead to exploration and discovery in learners of all ages.

About Wonderopolis

Brought to life by the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL), our Wonders of the Day® will help you find learning moments in everyday life—ones that fit in with dinner preparations, carpool responsibilities, a stolen moment between breakfast and the bus, or within school curriculum and education programs. Wonder is for everyone. It can happen anywhere and at anytime. Connecting the learning we do in our schools, our homes, and our communities, Wonderopolis walks the line between formal and informal education. Each day, we pose an intriguing question and explore it in a variety of ways. Wonderopolis is generously supported by funding from the Verizon Foundation, and we are a proud Content Partner of its Thinkfinity Community. About Wonderopolis. Bottle Biology. Find Your Path through the NGSS

Grounded in the National Academy of Science's thoughtful Framework for K-12 Science Education, these new K-12 science standards have been developed to provide students an internationally benchmarked science education, and signify a new direction for STEM education. They elevate the importance of Earth science, present engineering education as coequal with science education for the first time and emphasize a key set of Scientific and Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts that should buttress all learning in these disciplines. The NGSS hold the potential for helping focus the current national concern for improving STEM education.

They will undoubtedly help bring clarity and unity to the patchwork of state standards developed throughout the standards movement in the past decades. As this occurs, innovative educational technology will be a critical component in this STEM education revolution. Listen Edition. MpalaLive!
