New HP Slate Demo Shows Off Camera and More. The HP Slate is the tablet Microsoft teased ever so briefly back at CES, and remains one of the few upcoming non-iPad tablets we know about that will run Windows 7.
Earlier we saw HP touting the slate's Flash support, and in a new demo video we see a few other jabs at features Apple's iPad lacks. Unfortunately it's another short clip so we don't get too much new information, but we do see an on-board SD slot, USB port, camera with video and videoconferencing support via Skype, and the ability to dock your slate and connect it to your TV. These features are all notably lacking from the iPad, and although HP has an uphill battle to wage against the overwhelming fervor accompanying Apple's huge launch this weekend, it is a convenient "don't forget there will be other tablet options" reminder.

Clairement, la HP Slate se positionne en frontal de l’iPad sur les aspects multimédia avec, notamment, lecture des flux HD 1080p et double caméra vidéo. Sur les autres points, c’est globalement pareil, voire mieux pour l’iPad (et je passe sous silence que c’est un Windows 7 avec une sur-couche graphique Quant au processeur, c’est sans surprise un Intel Atom dont la gestion d’énergie est loin d’être idéale, comparé au A4. De fait, la HP Slate est plus un outil de communication multimédia tandis que l’iPad est plus que jamais un outil de consommation de contenus (avec une durée de batterie de plus de 10 heurs contre 5 pour la HP).
