Kashmir. Boundary. A boundary is a real or imaginary line that separates two things. In geography, boundaries separate different regions of the Earth. There are many different types of boundaries. Physical Boundaries The most obvious type of boundary is a physical boundary. A physical boundary is a naturally occurring barrier between two areas.

Rivers, mountain ranges, oceans, and deserts can all serve as physical boundaries. The Strait of Gibraltar is the boundary between southwestern Europe and northwestern Africa. Rivers are common boundaries between nations, states, and smaller political units such as counties. Another type of physical boundary lies below the Earth’s surface. Interaction between tectonic plates creates activity on their boundaries. The movement between the massive Pacific plate and the plates that border it creates all three types of boundaries. Political Boundaries Political boundaries are the dividing lines between countries, states, provinces, counties, and cities. Other Boundaries. Sunshine Policy failed to change North Korea: report.

Sunshine Policy. The Sunshine Policy was the foreign policy of South Korea towards North Korea from 1998 until Lee Myung-bak's election to presidency in 2007. Since its articulation by South Korean President Kim Dae Jung, the policy resulted in greater political contact between the two States and some historic moments in Inter-Korean relations; the two Korean summit meetings in Pyongyang (June 2000 and October 2007) which broke ground, several high-profile business ventures, and brief meetings of family members separated by the Korean War.

In 2000, Kim Dae Jung was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his successful implementation of the Sunshine Policy. Overview[edit] The main aim of the policy was to soften North Korea's attitudes towards the South by encouraging interaction and economic assistance. The national security policy had three basic principles: No armed provocation by the North will be toleratedThe South will not attempt to absorb the North in any wayThe South actively seeks cooperation. A monsoon is a seasonal change in the direction of the prevailing, or strongest, winds of a region. Monsoons cause wet and dry seasons throughout much of the tropics.

Monsoons are most often associated with the Indian Ocean. Monsoons always blow from cold to warm regions. The summer monsoon and the winter monsoon determine the climate for most of India and Southeast Asia. Summer Monsoon The summer monsoon is associated with heavy rainfall. It usually happens between April and September. India and Southeast Asia depend on the summer monsoon. Industry in India and Southeast Asia also relies on the summer monsoon. When the summer monsoon is late or weak, the regions economy suffers. Heavy summer monsoons can cause great damage.

In 2005, a strong monsoon devastated western India. Winter Monsoon The Indian Oceans winter monsoon, which lasts from October to April, is less well-known than its rainy summer equivalent. Not all winter monsoons are dry, however. Other Monsoons. World_climate_map-large.jpg (JPEG Image, 950 × 524 pixels)
