Blogging The Boys - For Dallas Cowboys Fans

http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/ Wes Bunting of the National Football Post released his mock draft offering today, his mock draft version 5.0 . Bunting, of course, is an old pro in the mock draft business, and knows that to keep people talking, he has to provide some variety. In his previous four mock drafts he had the Cowboys selecting different players every time: OG David DeCastro in v 1.0, OC Peter Konz in v 2.0; CB Dre Kirkpatrick in v 3.0 and DT Michael Brockers in v 4.0. For mock v 5.0 Bunting proposes Kirkpatrick again, but with a twist: Dallas Cowboys : Alabama FS Dre Kirkpatrick Some of the buzz coming out of the NFL Combine is that a number of NFL teams are now looking at Alabama DB Dre Kirkpatrick as the top safety prospect in the draft.

Shafer Vineyards

The popular band Train chose Shafer Vineyards as a backdrop for the new music video of their hit song “Drive By.” If you’ve visited the winery you’ll recognize the cave, the tasting room and much more. Robert M. Parker, Jr., writes of 2007 Hillside, "… unquestionably Shafer's finest Hillside Select since the 2001 and 2002 ... it takes concentration and complexity to its highest level in Napa Valley ... it is a colossal wine that will still be going strong in 2050." http://www.shafervineyards.com/

TrevR's Takes

http://trevorjonas.posterous.com/ How can we get more Twitter followers? It's a question many of us in the digital world hear multiple times per day. One response is that focusing solely on a metric like number of followers is short-sighted--brands should at least be looking a bit deeper at their follower bases. Are there influencers following us? Are the right types of people in the right demographics following us? If not, what's our strategy to change that?

Social Media Today

I had a friend recently ask, “What’s the big deal, and why now? And, give it to me in laymen’s terms, please.” The “Why now?” of it is because we have changed as a culture.

Interesting post over at OnlineSPIN on what constitutes news these days. News streams have been atomized to cater to thinner and thinner slices of our evaporating attention spans and the narrowing aperture of personalized interests. We seem to be moving in a direction of only seeing the stories we've preselected for ourselves, are fed to us by a range of automated finders, or we trip over by virtue of offerings sent in from the frontiers of our own social graph . Not that customization and personalization are bad, they just thwart the act of random acquisition of news--to a degree.
