Le changement climatique en BD ! - Y.Bauman, G.Klein

Government Resources

While its role is not to set climate policy or prescribe particular responses or solutions to climate change, its purview does include providing the robust scientific data needed to understand climate change and evaluating the impact of efforts to combat it. NASA then makes this information available to the global community – the public, policy- and decision-makers and scientific and planning agencies around the world. (For more information, see NASA's role.) Scientists List Four Ways to Capture Carbon, Limit Rising Temperatures. A new report suggests four simple ways to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Scientists List Four Ways to Capture Carbon, Limit Rising Temperatures

Carbon dioxide is among the gases linked to the increase in the Earth’s temperature. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine published the report. All four methods to take carbon from the air and store it use natural processes. However, all of them still would not be enough to prevent possible catastrophic levels of climate change, the report said. Climate scientists say carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels have warmed the Earth’s atmosphere by about 1 degree. Technologies that create no emissions, like wind or solar power, will not be enough to stop climate change, the U.N. report said.

The group of experts with the National Academies of Sciences considered existing methods for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The first of the four is one that almost everyone knows already: planting trees. The second method is also simple: take better care of existing forests. Green Choices - What are Transition Towns?

A Transition Initiative (which could be a town, village, university or island etc) is a community-led response to the pressures of climate change, fossil fuel depletion and increasingly, economic contraction. There are thousands of initiatives around the world starting their journey to answer this crucial question: Need to reduce indoor pollution? House plants will help you with that - Health News. Updated When you think of indoor health hazards, exposure to air pollution is probably not the first thing that comes to mind.

Need to reduce indoor pollution? House plants will help you with that - Health News

However, Dr Fraser Torpy, director of the University of Technology Sydney Plants and Indoor Environmental Quality Research Group, says the air circulating inside our buildings is often more polluted than the air outside, and this can have a very real impact on our health. The air circulating inside buildings can contain a cocktail of polluted air that comes into a building from outside mixed with pollutants from indoor sources.

Heating, cooking, cleaning, smoking, perfumes and furnishings are all sources of indoor pollutants, which include carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur oxide and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are a group of chemicals that are released from plastics and synthetics. Just one plant in a room is fine, its capacity to remove those things is absolutely phenomenal. Climate Change. Climate change is a change in worldwide climate patterns, like the weather.
