I am not sure if it is okay for me to be answering as I am new to the community, but I have done a LOT of crafts and have done lots of pom pom’s of various types and sizes, though not pillow size, I love the idea!
I will have to add that to my list of to-makes. To get a pom pom pillow size, decide what the finished size you want it to be is. Say you want the pillow to be 16″ across. To that, you need to add some length that will be trimmed to get your perfect shape. With a 16″ pillow, I would add 1 to 2 inches for trimming, though how tight you pull the t-shirt fabric will effect the final size also. Due to the length of the fabric needed to go around a 10 inch template, you may want to purchase t-shirt fabric or use the continuous cutting method of the t-shirts – that will leave the seams in though. Mark like so. The larger piece should have a top measurement to match under your bust. Step 1 Step 2 Cut the cross-over piece on the fold of your t-shirt. Sew up the sides of the larger front and back pieces, as shown. Step 2 Step 3 This is what the cross-over piece looks like unfolded. Step 3 Step 4 Lay the pieces flat. Step 4 Step 5 Now fold the sides of the cross-over piece so it matches the width of the ‘tube’. Step 5 Step 6 Put the bust piece and the tube piece right sides together and pin. T-shirt Pom Poms are so much more durable than tissue paper ones. And I think they look loads better! Got an old tee or two {or 20!} That you don’t wear anymore? Turn them into *pretty little pom poms! Supplies t-shirts, 1 per pom pomscissorscardboard use round objects to trace circles onto cardboard to make 2 templates like those shown above. i used a roll of tape and my camera lens cap…. the diameter of the outer circle is 6.5″ and the diameter of the inner circle is 2.5″. you can play around with different template sizes to get different sized pom poms. cut your t-shirt into 1/2″ strips. i only used from the arm pits down on each shirt. . take one strip and one template and place strips as shown close to the inner circle. sandwich the strip by putting the other template on top. take a fabric strip and place on cardboard with the end even with the outer edge.
