psyced communications server

At the XMPP Interop Event psyced has proven to be a solid if not cutting edge implementation of interserver XMPP. Good news for everyone who prefers to use IRC or PSYC clients rather than Jabber. Event Notification! psyced now accepts alerts by e-mail and redistributes them in multicast chatrooms, or it informs you of incoming mail thru procmail integration. psyced is the first piece of software to implement three different types of interserver protocols by also learning how to connect to an IRC network as a server, not as a client or service.

These are both still in the early stages of development and are not expected to work flawlessly in all configurations, however each is quite usable for a limited set of functionality. A Twisted Words server can be created with just one command: http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/wiki/TwistedWords

tigase.org

http://www.tigase.org/ It's time to present another test version of 5.1.0 line - beta 5. This version incorporates fixes to the ldap authorization, database handling, roster versioning and better handling of large contact lists, options to limit stored messages in the DB, fixes in the installer, updated default startup settings, better support for in-band registration as well as configuration in this regard on per domain basis, additional changes to the logging/debugging to produce more informative output accompanied with additional admin scripts. This version introduces also a new plugin "mobile" which, when activated optimizes traffic with the mobile devices (identified by client capabilities).
http://www.igniterealtime.org/ There has been an outstanding request to bring the Jingle implementation of Spark/Openfire up-to-date and compatible with newer implementations from NimBuzz, Gtalk and Jitsi . Openfire has a Jingle-Nodes plugin which replaces the legacy Openfire media proxy, but it is ignored by Spark. The ideal and proper way of doing this would be to update the Smack Jingle library (smackx-jingle), but it seems to be abandoned and would require some effort to study the code and appreciable time to implement the changes.

Jabber

Folks, we are currently experiencing problems with our online user registration page at register.jabber.org, so have temporarily taken it offline. The admin team is investigating the problem and we will post again as soon as we have more information. Until then, try one of the servers listed at xmpp.net . Our apologies for any inconvenience. Posted in notices . As you’ve probably noticed, the jabber.org service has been experiencing connectivity problems with gmail.com and other Google Talk domains (e.g., you might not be able to see if your contacts there are online). http://www.jabber.org/
