Thai Blogs | Life, Culture and Travel in Thailand. Cocopalm Beach Resort Samui Thailand. Day trips from Bangkok: Ayutthaya | Travelfish on Bangkok. Ayutthaya was once one of the richest cities in the world and the capital of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. It was sacked by the Burmese in 1767, bringing down both the city and the kingdom. It’s estimated that its population was more than 300,000 by the early 1600s, and grew to almost a million inhabitants in the early 1700s — a truly staggering number, that if true, would have made Ayutthaya the largest city in the world. Its fall from grace was so quick and the evacuation of the population so sudden that the extensive temple complexes were abandoned to sit unused for years before the city repopulated. The temples still sit (some faring better than others in the tropical elements), unused, although many have been partially restored. It’s a haunting testament to how quickly a civilization can fall. Wrap a yellow ribbon around it.
There are many options for day trips to Ayutthaya, but I firmly believe that there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. Tags: ayutthaya, cycling, ruins. Samui Beachfront Dining. Updated For 2013-14 Koh Chang isn’t a small island and all the beaches have a different vibe. Most visitors will have a clear favourite that suits their style of travelling and meets their expectations in terms of level of development and the type of accommodation , amenities, facilities etc that are on offer in the nearby area. Unless you are an unfeasibly healthy Scandinavian, or a stoned backpacker, you won’t be walking from beach to beach, therefore choosing where you stay is important.
Read through my random thoughts and descriptions of the different areas and by the end of it all you will either be more confused than ever, as some of the info may not tally with the tour brochures and travel magazine’s ‘Undiscovered, Palm fringed, ‘Last Paradise on Earth’, Oriental Eden’ take on the island; or you will have a better idea of where to stay and what to really expect should you decide to visit. Areas of the island in brief . . .where do you want to virtually go today?
Koh Chang, เกาะช้าง Thailand | Baan Koh Mak, Koh Mak island | Koh Chang Island Guide For Independent Travellers. Home » Koh Mak Hotels Submitted by Ian on August 28, 2011 – 12:26 PM Room rates from 1,350 baht Baan Koh Mak Resort is at the busier, western end of Ao Kao Beach, Koh Mak. It’s a nice little flashpacker resort. Originally with a dozen or so AC bungalows clustered around a small garden area and concrete ‘lagoon’ but last year they they also took over the neighbouring fan huts ‘ Koh Mak Cottage’ to provide additional accommodation.
The restaurant is in a great spot and is a popular place for early evening people watching and volleyball on the beach. I’ve eaten there a few times and the food is always good and reasonably priced. Baan Koh Mak wont be winning any awards, but it’s a cosy place to stay. Koh Chang, เกาะช้าง Thailand | Tiger Huts, Klong Prao Beach, Koh Chang | Koh Chang Island Guide For Independent Travellers. Home » Tiger Hut Tiger Hut offers very basic accommodation in ensuite fan bungalows in a quiet area of Klong Prao beach.
Most backpackers head to the busier areas such as Lonely Beach where they can be with hundreds of similar travellers. If you are on a tight budget, just want to be by the sea in a quiet spot and don’t want to spend every night being bored to tears listening to Ben the gap year backpacker’s exploits in Vietnam for the umpteenth time, then Tiger Huts is a good choice. Not a place to stay if you like to party but they do have a large beachfront restaurant and bar which attracts a range of people from other resorts at the south of the beach, the neigbouring Panviman Resort and our guesthouse. The restaurant has improved a lot recently and it now offers very good Thai and Western food for very reasonable prices. Good for anyone on a tight budget who needs a safe basic hut in a quiet spot with a great beach, good food & laid back atmosphere. More Details and Online Booking: Welcome to WARAPURA.
