"Create sophisticated crowd simulations in a dedicated environment within Softimage. Using the power of the ICE (Interactive Creative Environment) multi-threaded particle system, you can create massively complex effects with huge numbers of characters that react intelligently to their environment and each other."
Much of Buddhist philosophy centers around this same idea, this balance between what’s being phrased as “intention” and “attention” – our intentional curiosity about knowledge and growth, and our choice of where to focus our awareness, what to pay attention to. So that, I think, is the role of information curators: They are our curiosity sherpas, who lead us to things we didn’t know we were interested in until we, well, until we are. Until we pay attention to them — because someone whose taste and opinion we trust points us to them, and we integrate them with our existing pool of resources, and they become a part of our networked knowledge and another LEGO piece in our combinatorial creativity. So if information discovery plays such a central role in how we fuel our creativity and thus in our creative output, then information discovery is a form of creative labor in and of itself. An absolute must read, from Maria Popova, master curator.
The guest residence, located on a barrier island, is set within a mature oak hammock along Sarasota Bay. The structure is inspired by the character of the live oaks, which have been shaped by the prevailing coastal winds from the west. The Owner requested a design that was a “house in the trees”. A small program, including one bedroom, bath, living area with kitchenette, and a loft is organized to provide privacy between a neighboring property to the north, while offering broad views of the oak hammock to the south and west, and the intercoastal waterway to the east. Curved glulam pine beams, which are anchored to the elevated concrete slab at their base, curve up and over the entire space, reflect the arching quality of the live oak limbs.
Adobe has announced the launch of version 2.0 of its Open Source Media Framework(OSMF), an open software framework for building media players and applications, based on the company's closed source Flash platform. Kelash Kumar, Adobe Video Solutions Group Product Manager, says that the new version of OSMF includes a number of improvements aimed at helping developers "create even more engaging experiences" and notes that the developers have "reworked the inner workings of OSMF". OSMF 2.0 includes changes to the Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) algorithm and APIs that improve overall performance, and updates the default Switch Manager, which determines when a bit rate change should be made and to what quality. Doneness support in version 2.0 means that the framework can now distinguish between HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS) content streams shutting down due to server-side problems and shutting down because an event stream has completed.
