Five Best Desktop Computer Speakers. The price for decent speakers have come down drastically, so why not?
You don't have to be a DJ, producer, or audiophile to want good audio fidelity. Plus a lot of these available cheaper offerings aren't near-field monitors, they're good for a whole listening room, if not around the house. Because they have built in amplifiers, have very flat frequency response & are generally of MUCH HIGHER quality than most computer speakers. In addition if you want that media speaker type of sound from them you can always use an equalizer. I have the M-Audio AV 40s with a M-Audio Delta soundcard. If the listener is going to be moving around then they are not perfect (just pretty damn good). Also the user should stick to 320kbs mp3 or flac. If you get speaker placement right* a nearfield speaker setup is going to blow any "computer speaker" setup out of the water. Downside: anything wrong with the recording is going to jump right out at you.
Oh, and I don't want "computer speakers" for music. Five Best Earbuds. I tried a bunch of different high end buds recently trying to decide which was my favorite.
I gave all of these a shot: Shure SE535: Great fit, but the rolled off highs were annoying...the treble isn't as clear as you'd like it to be, and the bass is lacking. I'm not a bass-nut, but I like to at least "feel" the punch of the bass some. They sound very good, but they are in no way worth their absurd $500 price IMO (I found used in the mid $200s, but ended up not buying them). Klipsch Image x10: They had the biggest bass out of any buds I've ever heard, but the bass totally overpowers the mids and highs, making the sound very muddy. Ultimate Ears 700: Crystal clear highs and mids, but the bass is lacking. ...and the winner, the Ultimate Ears Triplefi 10's: "Holy shit! " I got the Fischer Audio DBA-02 MKII, a month ago and I've been absolutely loving them. Most headphones can be repaired. what's wrong with them?
I've owned everything from Staxx to Grados to a range of ear buds. Five Best Webcams. SExpand You guys missed what's easily the best quality HD USB cam on the market, the Tandberg (now Cisco) Precision HD USB Camera.
It's got good quality glass and the lens is larger by about 400% than any other USB camera on the market, it has great color reproduction, handles variable light levels well and with several thousand of them in the field I've seen 2 verifiable failures. I have one on my desk, side by side with the Logitech C920 and the Microsoft Life Studio and it's quality is noticeably better in every situation. It was designed for use with Tandberg's Movi enterprise video client but it works just like any other USB cam. The only draw back is that the USB pigtail is too short (about 3ft) and it doesn't work real well through USB hubs.
