I knew having that many magnets on my fridge would create about 400 pieces of additional artwork, memos, receipts, and photos - yikes! I wanted to follow up with some details on the last project I talked about - the DIY magnetic scrabble board project. It doesn't have to be a board for scrabble tiles at all, though. A few months back, I had bought a good supply of vintage Scrabble tile {400 total!} Basically, what you'll need for this project is a piece of sheet metal {I got mine from Lowes at around $7 for a 24"X36" piece}, a piece of thin plywood, trim, and Liquid Nail. Again - *sigh*. Hemp Basket. Recently, I found myself strolling at Ace Hardware store more often than usual.
I used to go to craft shops to get my craft supplies but now seems like I found an “auxiliary” place to buy… the HARDWARE shop!!! I bought a roll of manila rope from my local Ace Hardware store and made a hemp basket by coiling the rope with yarn using crochet method. Since posting the first time, I’ve had lots of questions about these buttons which will hopefully be answered in this revised post. Equipment Some handy notes: 1. Single hole, hole punch (like this one here). 2. 3. Okay.. lets get started! Tracing tips: You can use either coloured pencils or permanent pens. Words must be writted backwards in order to be readable. Shrinking the buttons: To shrink the buttons, you can use an oven or a heat gun (the kind used for embellishing). After the buttons have twisted and twirled, and are LYING FLAT, it’s time to take them out. Note: If the skrinking is taking too long, you may need to turn your oven up. Here’s a short little stop-motion to make sure you’ve got the gist of how easy this is! Shag Pillow. *no animals or plants were hurt in the making of this project. *one really stupid person did get hurt in the making of this project, but she would like to mention that even though the needle penetrated...no swear words passed her lips. it's was a modern day miracle. i love how this pillow turned out. i made it in green for two reasons: 1. it's still kind of cold here, and still kind of brown...will be for a little bit longer so i wanted some GREEN and springy looking happiness in my home. 2. it's the only color of jersey i had on hand, and living in the middle of nowhere doesn't let me just jump in the car and go to a store that i can find jersey fabric at (which btw this fabric was found at jo-anns but i would suggest amazon if you can't find what you are looking for, that's where i get a lot of mine when i can't find stuff) now lets get started: cutting: *cut from jersey fabric 19 strips at 1 1/2" each.

DIY Multi-Strand ScarfMakes one stylish scarf Ingredients: 1 old T-shirt (the bigger the better) 1 pair of scissors 1 ruler 10 minutes 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Viola, a stylish scarf to wear to yoga! Bottle (w)rap. I drink a lot of wine. And end up with a lot of empty wine bottles that are oh so pretty, it breaks my heart to have to junk them with the raddi- walla. I've been trying to find all sorts of utility excuses to hang on to them - wate bottles, plant holders and what have you. And now I have the perfect non-utility excuse to collect some more! Used: Coloured raffia from Le Papier Empty clearglass wine bottles (Sula Zinfandel -which is incidentally my personal favourite) Heavy duty glue (I have this stick of industrial glue that solidifies when it cools but I guess Fevicol would do as well) Starting at the bottom (cos the top's a bit tricky) starting winding the raffia tightly around the bottle, pausing to add a bit of adhesive every now and then.
