George Gershwin
George Gershwin (September 26, 1898 – July 11, 1937) was an American composer and pianist. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Gershwin's compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. Among his best known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris , as well as the opera Porgy and Bess . Born in Brooklyn in 1898 to Jewish immigrant parents from Odessa , Ukraine (then part of the Russian Empire), Gershwin studied piano under Charles Hambitzer and composition with Rubin Goldmark and Henry Cowell . He began his career as a song plugger , but soon started composing Broadway theatre works with his brother Ira Gershwin and Buddy DeSylva .Carl Orff ( ( 1895-07-10 ) July 10, 1895 – March 29, 1982 ( 1982-03-29 ) ) was a 20th-century German composer , best known for his cantata Carmina Burana (1937). Ennio Morricone , Grand Officer OMRI , Italian pronunciation: [ˈɛnnjo morriˈkoːne] (born November 10, 1928) is an Italian composer , orchestrator and conductor , who has written music for more than 500 motion pictures and television series , as well as contemporary and modern classical works. His scores have been included in over forty award-winning films. [ 2 ] In a career lasting over six decades, he composed some of the most recognizable film scores in cinematic history. [ 3 ] Morricone became known worldwide by composing the film scores for Spaghetti Westerns directed and/or produced by Sergio Leone , including A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), A Fistful of Dynamite (1971) and My Name is Nobody (1973).

Nino Rota (December 3, 1911 – April 10, 1979) was an Italian composer ,pianist, conductor and academic who is best known for his film scores , notably for the films of Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti . He also composed the music for two of Franco Zeffirelli 's Shakespeare films, and for the first two films of Francis Ford Coppola 's Godfather trilogy, receiving the Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Godfather Part II (1974). During his long career Rota was an extraordinarily prolific composer, especially of music for the cinema.

His operas include The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat , Letters, Riddles and Writs , Noises, Sounds & Sweet Airs , Facing Goya , Man and Boy: Dada , Love Counts , and Sparkie: Cage and Beyond , and he has written six concerti , four string quartets , and many other chamber works, many for his Michael Nyman Band , with and without whom he tours as a performing pianist.
