Download all your tweets (and Google and Facebook data) December 17, 2012, 11:41 AM — istockphoto Twitter has started rolling out the option for users to download their Twitter archive. That file will contain all your tweets up until the time you download it, arranged chronologically and searchable. This "data liberation" feature is already available from Google and Facebook, so while you're at it, you can download your data for those services as well. The "request your archive" option isn't there for everyone yet, but a few Twitter users have seen it already at the bottom of their Settings pages. Twitter user @nspeaks says that after you request your archive, Twitter will email you the download link to the zip file when it's ready (much like Facebook's system).
In the zip file is a Twitter index.html file with your archived tweets, as well as a chart of your Twitter activity by year. What's the point? As noted above, Google and Facebook both offer the ability to download some of your data. Facebook IPO Could Value It Among Top Companies. LOS ANGELES (AP) — When Facebook makes its long-expected debut as a public company this spring, the social-networking company will likely vault into the ranks of the largest public companies in the world, alongside McDonald's, Amazon.com and Bank of America. The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Facebook is preparing to file initial paperwork for an offering that could raise as much as $10 billion and value the company at $75 billion to $100 billion. The filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission could come as early as Wednesday, with an initial public offering of stock in three or four months.
The targeted amount would slot it among the world's 25 largest IPOs, although as recently as November 2010, General Motors raised $15.8 billion when it shed majority control by the U.S. government. The IPOs of 14 companies would rank higher than Facebook's, according to investment adviser Renaissance Capital. The possible filing next week isn't all that surprising. Loading Slideshow. Members of the shadowy collective known for its politically motivated Web hacks and attacks are targeting Facebook for what they claim to be the social-networking giant's misuse of personal information. "Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed," the speaker said in a YouTube video, which was posted July 16 but started circulating widely this week. I agree Facebook is a major threat to the privacy of everyone using it. Forgotten is the fact that people on Facebook willingly given up their privacy.
Alleged Murder Plot Revealed as Facebook Friend Turns Out to Be Indiana Man's Wife - FoxNews.com. SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana woman Angela Voelkert wanted a little dirt on her husband as she prepared for a messy divorce, so she posed online as a teen to trick him into dishing some damaging details, the New York Post reported Thursday. And what she learned was astounding -- he was plotting to kill her and run off with their kids, law-enforcement authorities believe. Voelkert, 29, created a fake profile of a teen named Jessica Studebaker last month, complete with a picture of an anonymous teenybopper, and became Facebook friends with her gullible hubby, David, 38. The identity of the pictured girl, who has no involvement with the couple, is not known, nor is it clear where Angela Voelkert obtained the photo. David Voelkert soon allegedly confessed to his new friend that he had secretly placed a GPS tracking device in his wife's van and was using it to locate her when he was allegedly ready to have her whacked.
