This carrier is believed to be Verizon Wireless, according to information provided in a separate Bloomberg report. Conducted using data from more than 2 million call, text, and data tests, the "2012 Carrier Performance in Review" report found that Verizon won out in most categories overall.
While all of the big four fared well in calls and texts, data speeds and coverage pushed Verizon and AT&T over the top. Verizon, which had 4G LTE service in all 78 tested markets, provided the fastest download (13.0 Mbps on average) and upload (7.9 Mbps on average) speeds. AT&T, for its part, was the first carrier to average 20 Mbps download speeds in any market. Sprint didn't do quite as well in the area of data, as the 4G LTE footprint was nowhere near as large as its competitors.

The app will also allow for the transfer of "some content" between Android and iOS devices, Verizon said. In addition, users can back up content from their PC or Mac's hard drive to their Verizon Cloud using a separate downloadable desktop client. After adding it to Verizon Cloud, that content will be accessible on a user's mobile device. The app should make the process of upgrading or replacing a lost device a little easier, Verizon said. The project is expected to be completed next year as part of the company’s efforts to reduce by half by 2020 its carbon intensity, or the emissions produced per terabyte of data flowing through its network. Verizon is one of a growing number of large companies that are producing their own electricity and buying less from utilities. “We’re focused on how we really move the needle, and it’s going to be through on-site generation,” James Gowen, the company’s chief sustainability officer, said in an interview.

Engadget on Tuesday posted an image of an ad for the Lumia 928 in the latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine.
The ad shows a device being held in a person's hand as he or she captures a photo or video of a family at the beach. Verizon's logo, along with the Nokia logo, sit just above the screen. The ad copy isn't completely legible in the Engadget photo, but clearly is promoting Nokia's PureView camera technology , the camera's Carl Zeiss optics, and its ability to capture images "even in low light.
" In the Vanity Fair ad, the device's name -- the Nokia Lumia 928 -- is clearly stated. Nokia, however, has remained a bit more secretive on its Web site, saying only that users should "stay tuned for updates about the newest Nokia Lumia. " The image on that page, however, is the same, and the link says "lumia928. " For now, Nokia has not revealed any details on the device.
