Focus 2013 (English) - Kansi. Finland ranked as world’s second happiest country. ”Rikas, onnellinen, hyvä niukkuudessa” – Suomi Britannian mediassa 2012 - Suomen suurlähetystö, Lontoo : Ajankohtaista. Eurokriisin myötä Suomi painii brittimediassa kokoaan raskaammassa sarjassa – hyvässä ja pahassa. Suomalaisten ministerien näkemykset kiinnostavat, mutta euroskeptinen lehdistö antaa herkemmin palstatilaa omaan agendaansa sopiville kriittisille kannoille, kuin Suomen positiivista EU/euro-roolia korostaville viesteille.
Vuoden näkyvimmät Suomi-uutiset olivat Daily Telegraphin ja The Economistin spekulaatiot ”FIXITistä” kesällä 2012. Suomen julkisuuskuva on Britanniassa hyvä. Vuonna 2012 Suomi näkyi brittimediassa myönteisessä valossa etenkin kolmesta syystä: Suomen talous pysytteli eurokriisistä huolimatta vaikuttavasti pinnalla; oppositiojohtaja Ed Miliband nosti Suomen esimerkiksi sosiaalisesta liikkuvuudesta; ja Suomen koulujärjestelmä, joka Britanniassa hyvin tunnetaan, kiinnostaa mediaa ja koulutusalan toimijoita edelleen.

Still, despite this chill factor, it’s the place I’ve called home for the last eight or so years, and it’s the place that’s helped me to write my first short story collection, Spellbound: Stories of women’s magic over men. Finland ranked as one of the most innovative countries in the world. The financial news provider Bloomberg has ranked Finland to the fourth place in its innovation rankings. The Bloomberg Rankings examined more than 200 countries and sovereign regions to determine how innovative they were, and based on the examinations it has published its list of top 50 countries.
The number one country by innovation was USA, second South Korea and third Germany. Bloomberg measured innovation by seven factors, including research and development intensity, productivity, high-tech density, researcher concentration, manufacturing capability, education levels and patent activity. Each country was ranked on a scale of 0 to 100 percent. In these rankings Finland was place as a number one country based on researcher concentration and second by its research and intensity.
