How The Nielsen Company Uses Idea Management Software to Drive Innovation. We've heard a lot about how idea management works in theory - but how does it work in practice? Ann Marie Dumais, Senior Vice President of New Product Introductions at The Nielsen Company, was kind enough to walk us through Nielsen's use of BrightIdea for enterprise idea management. Here are the lessons we came away with. When Selecting Your Platform, Know What You're Looking For Dumais said Nielsen decided to adopt idea management software because it wanted to put process around thoughts.
That may seem a bit corporate. OK, that sounds ridiculously corporate. But considering the company had found that it had no shortage of ideas coming from staff and no good means to do anything with them, it makes sense. Dumais said they needed something flexible - something that would enable them to make changes on the fly by themselves, without calling IT or an external vendor. After vetting several possibilities, Dumais and her team settled on BrightIdea because of its flexibility and usability.
How Can Web Tech Help Enterprises with Innovation Management? The California governor, Gavin Newsom, is back in the news as it’s being claimed that he netted over $2 million from the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria (FIGR). According to two reports out of the Daily Mail and Washington Free Beacon, both conservative outlets, they are alleging that this donation was paramount to Newsom’s decisions around a rival casino. It’s reported that the FIGR has donated over $2 million, split into two pots. $1.8 million went towards Newsom’s wife’s – Jennifer Siebel – nonprofit.
Another $450,000 went to his two inaugurations. This would put the figure at $2.25 million from the tribe alone. This is where things take a slightly ugly turn, as it appears that Newsom sided with the FIGR as the Koi Nation, another tribe based in California, began plans to open a new $700 million casino. We’ve reported on the Koi Nation’s casino, planned to be built on 68 acres of land near Windsor. FIGR doesn’t believe Koi Nation has right to land Featured image: Wikicommons.

All Our Ideas - A Suggestion Box for the Digital Age. 3 Trends in Idea Management. Idea management software seeks two “holy grails” of enterprise collaboration technology: 1) innovation and 2) the breaking down of silos.
Enterprise idea management has been around for over 10 years, but according to Mark Turrell, co-founder of pioneering idea management company Imaginatik and current CEO of Orcasci, there’s been an “explosion of interest” in the field in the past 18 months. Here are a few of the trends in the area that we’ve noticed. SharePoint Integration Stand alone enterprise idea managment platforms are increasingly integrating with Microsoft Sharepoint.
Imaginatik recently added Sharepoint integration to its flagship Idea Central product. Spigit (our coverage) and Kindling, newer players with big name customers, have both announced SharePoint integration in the past 12 months as well. Since Sharepoint is the most popular enterprise collaboration platform, it makes sense for vendors to focus on Sharepoint. Vendors Baking In Idea management Photo by Bart.
