A few groups on flickr picked up this idea and ran with it.

Remember What Jack Said Introductory Remarks The current interest in artist/architect collaborations seems to date back to the late 1970s when architect Richard Hobbs invited artists into the design process for the Viewlands-Hoffman electrical substation in Seattle. This was soon followed by the collaboration in 1983 between Cesar Pelli, Scott Burton and Siah Armajani on Battery Park, New York. In the UK, the first collaborative process was, probably, Tess Jaray's work on Centenary Square, in Birmingham, completed in 1990.
These early experiments in 'art as public space' required a closer fit between art and architecture, and this was achieved by artists collaborating with architects and, what Miwon Kwon [1] describes as, the other "members of the urban managerial class", ie. planners, urban designers, and city administrators. The lessons learnt, from what is now over 25 years of collaborative practice, are complex. Not every artist can do this sort of work Collaboration or Cooperation?

Parallel Lines: Five Different Short Films, One Set of Dialogue - Culture. Participatory. Ants link up to form unsinkable raft. Sandrine Ceurstemont, video producer An ant weave may just be the latest waterproof fabric. In this video, fire ants link their bodies to form a floating structure that resists being firmly poked by tweezers. Even when enough force is applied to submerge it, the raft quickly pops back up undamaged. Nathan Mlot and colleagues at Georgia Institute of Technology have been studying how ants create these structures. Since their habitat regularly gets flooded, they have evolved ways to self-assemble to form ladders, walls and in this case a raft. It's one of the longest-lasting structures, allowing ants to sail upon it for months as they migrate and colonise new lands The team froze ant rafts in liquid nitrogen to analyse how the animals form such tight bonds.
The strength of an ant raft also depends on the water surface being clean. It is thus possible that ant-to-ant cohesion is aided by capillary forces which have been shown to help other insects aggregate on the surface of water.
