Es muy probable que hayáis notado un molesto parpadeo cuando ponéis las aplicaciones a pantalla completa, como por ejemplo una presentación de imágenes o fotografías a pantalla completa, o el navegador web al ver un vídeo, o sin ir más lejos el propio reproductor multimedia para ver un archivo de vídeo. Este parpadeo se debe a que la composición gráfica entra en conflicto con las aplicaciones a pantalla completa. En versiones modernas de KDE, por ejemplo el que se encuentra en Debian Testing, ya se dispone de una opción gráfica dentro del panel de control de KDE para arreglar este inconveniente, concretamente en la sección Efectos del escritorio, pestaña Avanzado, opción Suspender los efectos de escritorio en las ventanas a pantalla completa.
