DIY Peppermint Foot Scrub, Body Oil + Soap. Awhile back I let you in on the secret about homemade bath & body gifts. Next confession: when everyone talks about ‘gifts from the kitchen’ this time of year I generally assume they mean a homemade face mask or body scrub. Because why would anyone slave to bake when holiday ingredients make such clever DIY beauty gifts?

Take peppermint, for example. In no time, you can make cute soap, an easy foot scrub and even a luxurious body oil using the colorful candies. Peppermint has such an energetic, happy scent, and red is pretty much my favorite color. Supplies needed Peppermint candies. Vanilla peppermint foot scrub Put about 6 peppermints or 1 candy cane in a Ziploc bag and grind it up. Peppermint vanilla body oil Open a small bottle of almond oil and add 6-8 drops of essential oil and 1 tablespoon of dried lavender. Peppermint soap In a microwave safe bowl, melt the glycerin in 30 second intervals. DIY ✰ Gingerbread Scrub - Wallflower Girl. Pumpkin-Sugar Body Scrub. Years ago when I managed a day spa, one of my favorite facials included a Pumpkin Enzyme Peel. That Pumpkin mask was so magically transforming that it inspired me to try working with at-home pumpkin treatments. Raw pumpkin has natural enzymes that eat away layers of dead skin cells and rejuvenate skin texture.

In my kitchen I don’t have a whole lot of raw pumpkin on hand but I sure do have the canned stuff. Cooked pumpkin may be missing those potent enzymes but happens to be jam-packed with other good stuff like Vitamin-A, Vitamin-C, and lots of antioxidants that help in fighting free radicals. Not bad for a little can of pumpkin! Mix that nutrient rich pumpkin puree with coarse sugar or salt, a bit of honey, and moisturizing sweet almond oil and you have a potent little Pumpkin-Sugar Body Scrub. Don’t be fooled by its sweet name, this at-home remedy is no pumpkin pie. Photos by Leah Bergman Pumpkin-Sugar Body Scrub Directions: 1. Cinnamon Sugar Body Scrub. Solid Shea Butter Sugar Scrub Cube Recipe. Solid Sugar Scrub Cubes have become the new trend and are now taking the place of traditional sugar scrubs.

One of the main reasons is that these scrubs are in a solid form so there’s no separation and less mess. It also means it’s less likely that you will transfer water into your sugar scrub during usage since you are simply removing one or two cubes at a time for use and then resealing the container before use. While there are a handful of recipes for solid sugar scrubs floating around, I came up with my own recipe that I’d like to share with you. It’s not greasy when applied and easy to make. Here’s what some of my customers have had to say about my Solid Shea Butter Sugar Scrub Cubes: Cucumber Solid Shea Butter Sugar Scrub CubesMy mother LOVES this!!! DIY Rosemary Foot Soak & Olive Oil Scrub. So I got this crazy thought, that it might be nicer for me (and my fellow gym-goers) if my feet got a little extra attention. You know, every once in a while. I find it really challenging doing anything to my feet during winter, since they're tightly shoved into boots all the time anyway. I should, though, and it would be so easy to just do while I watch some tv show I'm gonna watch anyways!

So, I've noticed a few articles about using epsom salt in foot soaks, and started digging. Turns out it will soothe aches, eliminate smells and softens up rough skin. My feet feel so happy right now, why don't you give it a go? (The epsom salt package says not to use it in a foot bath in some cases, read the package!) How to: First, make the scrub! The soak: Boil a few branches of rosemary in water for a couple of minutes. Slice up 2 lemons in whatever it is you're using as the "bath" for your feet. Add 1/2 cup of epsom salt. After that, scrub with your olive oil scrub. Rinse. Done! Oleander and Palm: Orange Rosemary Salt Scrub. I'm hearing a lot of talk of snow, it's definitely not here though. We are having a very mild Winter, whom am I kidding, it's always a mild winter here.

It might not be very cold but we definitely have dry Winter air. I'm feeling and seeing the effects of the dry air on my skin. I often look at my hands and am embarrassed by how old they look. I've got my Grandma's hands, like her hands when she was in her 80's. A couple years ago I made a Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub.

I kept a jar of it by my kitchen sink and when I'd remember, I'd scrub my hands with it. I searched the web looking for salt and sugar scrub recipes, and most require essential oils. Orange Rosemary Salt Scrub 1 cup salt zest of one orange 1tsp. rosemary leaves taken off the stem 1/3 cup olive oil In a food processor, place the orange zest, rosemary and salt. I'm storing my scrub in my new Weck jar. So, are you enjoying Winter or are you already longing for warmer weather? Homemade body scrub. By Cybele Rubadubdub scrubbing the body is a big part of the health kick we’re on, because the skin is one of the body’s excretory organs.

Nice thought… The rubbing action gets the blood moving and hopefully releases the super stubborn toxins, whilst taking dead skin cells off the surface so the toxins can exit stage left with the greatest of ease. All those words so I could avoid saying ‘it makes it easier to sweat out the crap’. Dreary me. Epsom Salt There are a couple of reasons why I used Epsom salt and it’s not because my grandma used to take it to keep herself regular, nor because The Wall Street Journal recommends using it to remove splinters, bee stings and other things.

The Body Scrub recipe: 2 cups olive or coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of lemon essential oil or 2 cups of this lemon oil and next time I’m going to try it with my new lavender oil 2/3 cup honey 3-4 cups Epsom salt Mix all the ingredients together, if your honey is quite runny you made need to add more salt.
