Japan Earthquake: Six Months Later - Alan Taylor - In Focus

It marked six months since the massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11, a date now seared in the country's national consciousness. At 2:46 that afternoon, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck Japan offshore, triggering a tsunami wave of up to 10 meters (33 ft) that engulfed large parts of northeastern Japan and also damaged the Fukushima nuclear plant, causing the worst nuclear crisis in decades. The current number of dead and missing is estimated to be 22,900. Gathered here are some recent images from the region, including 12 before-and-after photo pairs (starting with photo number two) that you can click to see the difference six months can make. A Film Photography Experience with Kevin Morris. By: Emily Hildebrand Kevin Morris is a twenty-four year old photographer based out of Toronto, Ontario. He bought his first DLSR, a Nikon D60, after taking a trip to Europe and Asia for work, not bringing a camera, and regretting it. He’s been in love ever since, and now has a selection of cameras, including a Nikon D700, Nikon D7000, Minolta SRT102, Diana F+ 120, and a growing collection of vintage cameras ranging from Kodak Eastman to Brownie models.

This summer he decided to get out his grandfather’s old 35mm Minolta SRT102 and fix it up, and it has made a huge impact on his photography. Having to take the extra time to make sure every setting is perfect, and having to deal with film, even enhances your digital photography work. Ground Zero: September 11, 2001 - September 11, 2011. One of the most indelible memories in the collective psyche of Americans - and the world - comes from the images of the World Trade Center following the terrorist attacks on the United States, September 11, 2001. Yesterday, Americans and the world collectively remembered those who lost their lives in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania ten years after that unforgettable day. This post (edited by Leanne Burden) shows the transformation, of what became known as Ground Zero, over the last ten years. A memorial rises from the ashes of that day on September 11, 2011. -- Paula Nelson (41 photos total) Immigration. Lense.fr. Apprendre à faire des photos et à les retoucher. The Big Picture.
