XIXe Siècle - Histoire du Monde. Quellen zur Entwicklung der sozialistischen Internationale (1907 - 1919) Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung: Netz-Quelle Geschichte und Politik. Industrialisierung/Anfänge der Gewerkschaftsbewegung Die Industrialisierung sowie die Ursprünge der Gewerkschaftsbewegung in Deutschland und europäischen Nachbarländern gehören zu den Standardthemen des Geschichtsunterrichtes in den Schulen.
Da die Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung als die in Deutschland größte wissenschaftliche Spezialbibliothek mit den Sammelschwerpunkten Sozial- und Zeitgeschichte sowie Geschichte der Arbeiterbewegung über ausserordentlich viele Publikationen zu diesen Themen verfügt, liegt es nahe, diese mit Hilfe der neuen Medien für den Geschichtsunterricht in den Schulen wie auch für die gewerkschaftliche Bildungsarbeit noch stärker nutzbar zu machen. Wo bisher Auszüge und Zitate in Lehrbüchern genügen mussten, können hier authentische Dokumente und Publikationen auf den Bildschirm geholt, ausgedruckt und als Anschauungs- und Schulungsmaterial verwendet werden.

LC-USZC4-9217. One of the most famous photos of the Crimean campaign. Roger Fenton's Crimean War photo series is the first historic attempt to portray war campaign with the help of new magic photo media, then still in its infancy. Sent as a replacement for the Richard Nicklin, a civilian photographer, who was lost at sea, along with his assistants, photographs, and equipment, when their ship sank during the hurricane that stuck the harbor at Balaklava on November 14, 1854. Fenton spend March-June 1855 in Crimea as an official campaign photographer, payed by the British government, recording participants and landscapes for posterity.
