Brazilian Lemonade. This is my most favorite drink.

Brazilian Lemonade

Ever. Maybe I’d feel differently if I drank (as in alcohol), but there is nothing I love more than a warm, breezy afternoon and a pitcher of Brazilian lemonade. I didn’t try it for a long, long time because I was very put off by putting sweetened condensed milk in with citrus fruit. It seemed very wrong. And then I had some at Tucano’s and my life has not been the same since. It starts off with fresh, juicy limes. You pop them in a blender with some sugar water and pulse just a few times. Pour the mixture from the blender through a strainer and into a pitcher, thus saving all of the flavorful liquid. Then the secret ingredient: sweetened condensed milk. Brazilian LemonadeOur Best Bites Ingredients: 4 juicy limes (try and find ones with thin, smooth skins; they’re the juiciest and the thin skin cuts down on the chance of your drink being bitter) 1 c. sugar 6 c. cold water 6 Tbsp. sweetened condensed milk Instructions: Place 1/2 of the limes in your blender.

Cake Batter Pancakes. I’m fairly convinced that the world would be a better place if more sprinkles were involved.

Cake Batter Pancakes

I know. I just made pancakes. Spicy Lime and Cilantro Coleslaw. Fourth of July and coleslaw are meant for one another.

Spicy Lime and Cilantro Coleslaw

Crisp, tangy veggies on a hot summer day-a match that is sure to endure the test of time. But not any coleslaw will do. Our nation’s proudest holiday calls for a feisty coleslaw with a little bite. I made this easy recipe using jalapeno, cilantro and a secret ingredient- yogurt- to replace the mayo. It’s got all the zip without any of the glop. Ingredients: (makes 4 to 6 servings) 1/2 head of cabbage shredded 1 cup cilantro rough chopped 1/2 jalapeno deseeded and rough chopped (use a whole pepper for more heat) 1/2 cup plain yogurt (whole or non-fat) zest and juice of 1/2 lime 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Snickerdoodle Scones » Annie's Eats. Baked goods for breakfast are one thing I never seem to tire of, and I’m always looking for new variations to try.

Snickerdoodle Scones » Annie's Eats

It seems so many versions contain either fruit or some sort of chips mixed in and while I certainly enjoy those as well, I was very excited to try these because they seemed a bit out of the ordinary. Not only that, but they are like a giant snickerdoodle cookie that I can eat for breakfast because it’s called a scone – sign me up! They bake up with a really nice tender texture, and the cinnamon sugar topping makes them warm and comforting somehow. One of these combined with a small plate of fresh fruit was a great way to start out the day. Ben actually declared them, “The best scones you have ever made.” Can’t get enough scones? Saturday Night Suppers: Potstickers. I love Chinese Dim Sum!

Saturday Night Suppers: Potstickers

For those who aren't familiar with dim sum, these are little plates of Chinese appetizers. At a dim sum restaurant the servers come around the dining room with carts filled with all these savory treats. You point to what you want and they put it on the table and mark your ticket. You get to try so many different things in one sitting and everything is so good! Of course a restaurant kitchen is able to produce upwards of 30 different little dishes to send around the dining room. Tonight I had my friend April ( and family over. I made my Vietnamese spring rolls, fried rice and I made potstickers as well. steak sammies with lemon mayo

Because it is blazing in new york! It has been so hot here lately. and although i love cooking; cooking in hot weather is not my thing. but i have to eat so cook i must! It is so hot that i went to the supermarket yesterday with the pretense of buying food, but in reality it was to take advantage of their air conditioner. i walked up and down the aisles for almost an hour hahahaha! Once i got home, all that walking made me really hungry and made these sandwiches to avoid using the stove. lucky for him, the irishman came home early and we ate our sandwiches together, in front of the fan. the sandwiches were filling, but not too heavy and the fresh lemon gave them a nice freshness which was very much welcomed on a hot day. here is the recipe for steak sandwiches with lemon mayo!!

INSTRUCTIONS:mix together 1 tablespoon of olive oil, soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of grated lemon peel and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon pepper seasoning salt. yum!! Slice the meat diagonally.
