Remember the electric Killacycle ? Lightning Motors' electric motorcycle is similar, but it's made for the street instead of the racetrack. It goes 0-60 in around 3 seconds, hits close to 100 mph at top speed, and has about a 100-mile range at cruise. The bike is a Yamaha R1 that has been modified to be powered by lithium-ion batteries. The entire engine is missing. So are the tailpipes, radiator, gas cap, transmission and clutch.

Every few months, a bike comes along that completely stops me in my tracks. Like this one: an Art Deco-influenced machine that could have come straight from the pen of Harley Earl. The bike caused a stir last month when it appeared at the Rhinebeck Grand National Meet , a popular motorcycle show held a couple of hours drive north of NYC.Australian inventor Chris Malloy has built a hoverbike from motorcycle parts and claims it can fly up to 173 mph, at an altitude of 10,000 feet. The designer says the one-person vehicle could replace conventional helicopters for tasks over rugged terrain, such as aerial surveys, search-and-rescue missions and cattle roundups. Along with two Tasmanian Oak propellers, the 240 pounds hoverbike has a 1,170cc 4-stroke engine and carbon-fiber driveshaft. To lift off, the driver increases thrust with the right hand via a throttle grip, exactly like that of a motorcycle. At 21.8 miles per gallon, one full tank of gas will take you 92 miles.
