The Greatest Step Is Out The Door. Deep Sea Creatures. I went about looking at blogs with these interesting sea creatures on them, I was disappointed because none had information about them. Ive compiled what little facts we do know about these elusive beings. Click photos to enlarge. Common Name: Dumbo OctopusScientific Name/Class: GrimpoteuthisThe Dumbo Octopus lives in the East Pacific Rise, 300-5000 m down. They vary in color and some have blue eyes. Clearly shows reason for such a humorous name. Common Name: Marrus OrthocannaScientific Name/Class: SiphonophoreThis bell shaped jelly can be found in the East Pacific and West Atlantic Ocean about 400-3000 m deep. Common Name: Ping Pong Tree SpongeScientific Name/Class: Chondrochladia LampadiglobusLittle is known about this type of sponge, they live 2600-3000 m down into the abyss. Common Name: Deep Sea SpiderScientific Name/Class: MunnopsisThese are not related to pycnogonids, the true sea spider.

Family living conditions in childhood are associated with significant effects in DNA that persist well into middle age, according to new research by Canadian and British scientists. They found clear differences in gene methylation between those brought up in families with very high and very low standards of living.
