Orison Swett Marden Dr. Orison Swett Marden (1850 - 1924) was an American inspirational author who wrote on success in life and how to achieve it. His writings discuss common-sense principles and virtues that make for a well-rounded, successful life. Many of his ideas are based on New Thought philosophy. His first book, Pushing to the Front (1894), became an instant best-seller and remains a classic in the genre of self-help. Marden had an unusual ability to strike a chord with his readers, encouraging them with hope and firing them with ambition to achieve. Biography[edit] The "Bound Out" Orphan[edit] Marden was born in Thornton Gore, New Hampshire to Lewis and Martha Marden. Marden's young manhood was marked by remarkable energy and unbroken achievement.

Pushing to the Front (1894)[edit] At age forty-four, Marden switched careers to professional authorship. Overwhelmed and heartbroken, Marden picked himself up and started all over again. Success Magazine (1897)[edit] Timeline[edit]

Meccano Magazine was an English monthly hobby magazine published by Meccano Ltd between 1916 and 1963, and by other publishers between 1963 and 1981.

The magazine was initially created for Meccano builders, but it soon became a general hobby magazine aimed at "boys of all ages". It remained in circulation for over sixty years. History[edit] The magazine was launched by Frank Hornby, the inventor of Meccano, as a bi-monthly publication in 1916 in the United States as "Meccano Engineer", and was a month ahead of the UK issue. The first copies were given away free but in 1918 readers had to pay two pence for postage for four issues.[1] In 1917 and again in 1932, Hornby published a history of Meccano, its manufacture and marketing in the magazine. During the Second World War the content and quality of the magazine was reduced greatly, and the size decreased from approximately A4 to A5. Byte magazine was a microcomputer magazine, influential in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s because of its wide-ranging editorial coverage.[1] Whereas many magazines from the mid-1980s had been dedicated to the MS-DOS (PC) platform or the Mac, mostly from a business or home user's perspective, Byte covered developments in the entire field of "small computers and software", and sometimes other computing fields such as supercomputers and high-reliability computing.

Coverage was in-depth with much technical detail, rather than user-oriented. Byte started in 1975, shortly after the first personal computers appeared as kits advertised in the back of electronics magazines. Byte was published monthly, with an initial yearly subscription price of $10. Byte was able to attract advertising and articles from many well-knowns, soon-to-be-well-knowns, and ultimately-to-be-forgottens in the growing microcomputer hobby. Byte continued to grow.
