Wood of Words. Turning over a new leaf: reading every day | Bookstart. Exercising more and cutting out chocolate are classic New Year’s resolutions, but can be an effort to keep up! So why not turn over a new leaf (in more ways than one) by setting yourself the fun and rewarding activity of reading with your child every day? Reading every day will help your child begin to listen, talk and learn about the world around them. It’s also a fun way to spend time together and is really easy to do – whether reading a book, singing a rhyme or playing online, you are opening up your child to new ideas, pictures and words that will help them grown and learn.

If you don’t know when to fit in a story, then start with bedtime. For reading ideas, you could check out our Book of the Month archive. We'd love to know what you end up reading together, so why not add a comment below? Quickreads.org.uk. Inclusive Minds. The Reader Online. Just Imagine... | Just Imagine...
