Rich Abrahams Breaks Masters Swimming World Records. Photo Courtesy: Rich Abrahams Rich Abrahams has a very storied history of success in Masters swimming.
Dating back to 1985, he has broken U.S. Masters Swimming national records and FINA world records in multiple events. That history continued last weekend at the Oregon City Spring Forward Meet, where Abrahams took advantage of a FINA rule to start setting world records in the 70-74 age group. Abrahams does not officially turn 70 until next Friday, but he was able to swim as a 70-year-old in the short course meters meet in Oregon last week thanks to a FINA rule that dictates that in short course meters and long course meters meets, your age as of December 31 of that year is your “meet age.” Abrahams, representing Colorado Masters, started with a 1:02.22 in the 100 freestyle, beating David Quiggin’s mark of 1:02.87 from last year.
Abrahams’ third record came in his specialty, the 50 freestyle. Results: 2015 Oregon City Spring Forward Masters Meet. The Okinawa Centenarian Study: health, diet & aging research. Your Shopping Cart. Beyond Resveratrol: The Anti-Aging NAD Fad. Aging cells.

Elevating the Human Condition - h+ Media. Top Ten Transhumanist Technologies. By Lifeboat Foundation Scientific Advisory Board member Michael Anissimov.
Overview Transhumanists advocate the improvement of human capacities through advanced technology. Not just technology as in gadgets you get from Best Buy, but technology in the grander sense of strategies for eliminating disease, providing cheap but high-quality products to the world’s poorest, improving quality of life and social interconnectedness, and so on. Technology we don’t notice because it’s blended in with the fabric of the world, but would immediately take note of its absence if it became unavailable.

It Takes a Village. Hacking the Brain. The perfectibility of the human mind is a theme that has captured our imagination for centuries—the notion that, with the right tools, the right approach, the right attitude, we might become better, smarter versions of ourselves.
We cling to myths like “the 10 percent brain”—which holds that the vast majority of our thinking power remains untapped—in part because we hope the minds of the future will be stronger than those of today.
