IHeart Organizing

It's a project that I have not only been working on here and there over the entire course of the 2 year blog run, it's also one project that I worked on every waking second of this past weekend.... No joke, I really did. Last month I mentioned that I was going to be making some much needed changes around this place. Especially now that I am going to take this blog and run! Ready for the big B&A?! It all started with a change to my hair color... Reader Space: A "Craft"acular Transformation! Have I mentioned that Wednesday's are pretty much one of my favorite days here on the blog?

Or try this, since it's even a closer description for what you are about to see, "Perfect, Pretty and Practical Pantry Project". And the word "perfect" is an understatement. The use of space in Lisa's new pantry is purely genius! Lisa wrote: Hey Jen! Reader Space: A Pantry Project that is as Sweet as Honey! Ever see those closet or pantry spaces in magazines and catalogs that leave you staring breathtakingly for hours, wishing and dreaming that you could do the same in your home?

Then you shudder at the thought and think it can't be done and turn the page and move along. What I love about today's story is that it's real. It shows that with some good space planning and getting creative, IT CAN BE DONE! Today I get to feature insane inspiration from the wonderful blog, Honey & Fitz! You can often see the person’s signature style carried through the entire home, plus you get to enjoy a bit of vicarious redecorating :) This is the second room Sibylle has shared with us. Sure enough, her bedroom is just as lovely, bright and well curated as the dining room from a few weeks ago. I especially love the fireplace side table, and the illustrated floral antlers on the wall, for which Sibylle has created an easy DIY tutorial.

For the next two months life will be very busy for me. Between volunteer work, design assignments, photography classes and just plain life-stuff, I'm going to be pretty crazy. So I just want to give you all a little heads up for the lack of posts that will happen from now until mid-November.

Natty by Design. Hardware is pricey, especially when you need more than just a few knobs or pulls. Quite often the best thing to do is to paint the existing hardware. There are always at least 4 steps to properly paint any hardware. Rough it up with a 120 sandpaper, prime it with an oil-based primer, paint it, and apply a protective clear coat. *Don't over think the brown paint step - it doesn't need to look perfect. If you enlarge the picture below you'll see the before and after and my brown paint doesn't look great, but on the finished piece it looks awesome. This is how the hardware looked before. Maillardville Manor. I think the reason I enjoy reading about farm life so much is because it's something I could never do.

Maillardville Manor

It's not the hard work, it's not even the early mornings (although i don't love those), it's the rats and the snakes and the mice and I'm sure there are spiders :) Yesterday I went to weed the front garden and there was a really big worm and it scared me a little, in my defense it was a really really big worm and it only scared me a little! None the less I still feel the pull of farm life, Sometimes I take the long way home and drive through farm country, thinking about how nice it would be to have a big giant farm with chickens, and goats, and maybe a piglet or two!
