GreenNurture, maker of an application that helps employees contribute to the sustainability of the companies they work for, is launching at the DEMO conference in Palm Springs, Calif. Using social networking and rewards systems, the platform gives people incentives to change their behavior to save energy and other resources.

The company analyzes 30 variables related to how people go about their business at work every day. It conducts surveys and collects data from how users interact with one another. It can detect minimal shifts in company culture and attitudes toward environmental practices, and GreenNurture users can watch their workplaces becoming greener over time. “Macro programs usually require large investments and trailing ROIs,” says CEO Derrick Mains. The companies do pay a fee to present, but our coverage of them remains objective. Gartner expects the value of the mobile Internet to surpass the desktop version in three years. But the world of paperwork hasn’t kept up. I, for one, still need to print out, sign, and then fax in paperwork to get paid by some of the publishers I work for. Then they lose the paperwork. Here’s the chief executive, Joshua Kerr, demonstrating live at DEMO that we don’t need our fax machines anymore.

Zosh is described as a mobile document execution platform by its maker, ABJK NewCo. One little-cited advantage to digital paperwork is that it’s easy to search. Austin-based ABJK NewCo is self-funded by its co-founders. VentureBeat: DEMO: MightyMeeting keeps... DEMO: MightyMeeting keeps your A-game close, your Powerpoint clo.

Gwabbit has been steadily expanding its solutions for automating the tedious job of collecting and entering your contact information. It has just creaded Gwab-o-sphere, which the company calls the first automatic contact cloud. The service is akin to a universal remote control for all of your contacts, synchronizing the contacts you have across your phones and social networks.

The cloud service uses the same software Gwabbit used for its first app, Gwabbit for Outlook, which it launched at the DEMO conference a year ago. Gwabbit followed that announcement with its $9.99 app for BlackBerry users, and then it announced a free BlackBerry version as well. Now Gwab-o-sphere will let users aggregate all of their contacts in the cloud. Miller acknowledges there are still some areas to conquer. VentureBeat: DEMO: Widgetbox's ClickTur... By networking these cloud computing environments, the company believes it can help organize your life. For example, you can use your personal cloud for online storage, document creation, and calendar functionality — but also have access to a group cloud meant for work colleagues or family members. Each cloud contains web apps made by Airset and Zoho, including a word processor, spreadsheet app, and music and photo sharing. You can try out the service with an ad-supported free account which features 1GB of storage.

VentureBeat: DEMO: Closely helps small... DEMO: Closely helps small businesses bring deals to Facebook and. Closely is one of 65 companies chosen by VentureBeat to launch at the DEMO Spring 2010 event taking place this week. These companies do pay a fee to present, but our coverage of them remains objective. If you’re a small business, it can be a challenge to figure out the best way to take advantage of social networking services like Facebook and Twitter. A startup called Closely wants to help. In this case, the Denver, Colo. company is launching an invite-only beta test of Closely Business Edition. For example, with Closely a bakery could decide that it wants to offer a “buy one, get one free” deal for a day, so it creates a page advertising the deal with a special code, as well as a countdown timer showing how long until the offer is over.

Then the business schedules the page to publish once the special deal begins, and it would be shared on Facebook and Twitter, perhaps with a schedule of periodic reminder posts.
