In my final year teaching, I worked the car line at the end of the day. The second week of school, a crazy rainstorm hit just as dismiss al was starting. I have never seen rainstorms like I have in the south – it was POURING. We were scrambling trying to get kids to their cars as dry as possible with a few golf umbrellas. She didn’t have to do that. There were enough staff members assigned to car duty to get the job done. That act of kindness set the tone for the rest of the year, that she was the kind of principal that would be in the trenches with us.
