Cookie Cutter Fudge Recipe from Betty Crocker. Words and Valentines. This Hot Chocolate on a stick is the perfect sweet Valentine’s treat! We all have our own little idiosyncrasies. They say this is what makes us an “individual”…or in layman’s terms, makes us a little freaky. Most of us are quiet oddballs, while others are very public…case in point: Tuesday nights on Fox. For those not “in the know”, that’s American Idol folks. Seriously, people…wave those freak flags high! I know it makes for interesting TV and all, but sometimes those auditions are bah-RU-tal!!

Maybe that’s why I watch..to feel normal While (in my opinion) I am not a full-fledged crazy, I do have some things that make me a little strange. I will share one of these. Certain words in our English language I cannot handle. I might go as far to say that they should be banned. Now I am not getting all politically correct or topical…wrong blog. I am staying strictly superficial here…buckle up.

We’ll start with a word I find ridiculous ~ “whimsical”. Moving on. “Scrumptious”. Next up… “Delectable”. Mean. How to make homemade marshmallows. When I got the DIY cookbook from America’s Test Kitchen and saw this marshmallow recipe, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I’d made marshmallows once, but that was long ago when I was a teenager. It’s not really possible to make cylindrical marshmallows at home, so these don’t look exactly like commercial marshmallows.

But they are really fun to make, they have a great vanilla flavor, and they’re softer and fresher tasting than the ones in the package. Now, they do call for quite a bit of gelatin, so I’m not entirely sure if they’re cheaper than commercial marshmallows. I think I used three packets of gelatin, but the recipe made an entire 9×13 pan of marshmallows, which is equivalent to at least two commercial bags.

So, that doesn’t seem too crazy. If you have a good source of bulk gelatin, that would make a big difference in the price. Anyway. And they would make kind of a fun Christmas gift, because really, how many people are going to give homemade marshmallows? Oh. Chocolate Party Spoons! My original thinking with these beauties was that they would become the modern day Welsh Love Spoon. The one you'd actually like to receive on Valentine's Day, as opposed to one of those outrageously over-priced and overwhelmingly useless, hideous, hand crafted, wooden goodfornothings.

Those of you not in the same country as I am might not know what a Welsh Love Spoon is, and in this case, Google is your best friend - he's found this for you. My timing is off though; I've been busy! Thus, I didn't make them in time for Valentine's Day, and they became Dessert One of Two at Rowanne's Un-Birthday Party.

I confess that, fabulous though my spoons are, they were not actually my own idea; I saw something similar in a Valentine-themed cookbook in Tokyo a week or so ago, and immediately decided to make some at home (as I've said, as Valentine's gifts, but that didn't happen). I'm just mad for this one - it's like a jewelled brooch! (A tutorial - ha!) Now, hold on to your hats, because here we go. Santa Hat Party Mix. This past weekend my husband and I got together with some friends and had a game night. Game nights are fun, aren’t they? Aren’t they? Well, they are supposed to be fun. Until… Men vs. Women. Apparently as a married adult it gets all kindergarten on game nights.

When you are in elementary school it’s always boys vs. girls. The sexes seem to come together in the mid teens through your twenties when you are wearing love goggles and you play “couples”. After you have been married for a while, you squeegee the steam off the goggles and it’s all boys vs. girls again. It all seems like good fun when the games start. Then, slowly but surely, the tide starts to turn. It would be remiss of me not to mention that I was on the losing side of the tide. Sometimes it happens like that. It would also be remiss of me not to tell you that this was a rematch. We have lost before. Losing is not so much fun. Especially when you were the ones that called for the rematch. An isolated incident.

Apparently not. Bugles Ingredients. White Chocolate Christmas Pretzels. White Chocolate Christmas Pretzels I have said before that I love World Market and that love continues. They really have the neatest things there and incredible specialty food items. I was browsing there the other day to see if I could find any Christmas presents. One thing I did find were these fantastic Christmas Pretzels. Of course they were not covered in white chocolate and sprinkles, as that was my doing, but they are in adorable shapes. Happy Holidays! I can only apologise. I had a week off last week, and even though I thought there would be countless opportunities to cook and blog, there just weren't. I could, I suppose, have cooked something wonderful for the two friends that came to stay for a few days, and put the recipe up here. But we were too busy sunbathing at the beach during the day and talking and laughing at Nighty Night in the evenings for me to even think about slaving in the kitchen.

I say we were too busy to think about slaving in the kitchen, and that is true. That probably sounds like an act of complete madness, and I suppose that, actually, we did only decide to set out on a preserving marathon on a whim. In typical 'oh, let's just wing it' fashion (for us lot at least), we picked up some jam sugar from the supermarket, picked out and washed some jars from the recycling bin, and dried them off in the oven. Process, process! The loot. The fragrance! But it did! Food / jam straws. Reindeer Noses. I've finally got round to photographing some of the items I've made for my Christmas Craft Stall. Here is the first, my Reindeer Noses. I first saw this idea on Splitcoast Stampers. I love the idea of the 8 brown and then the 1 red (Rudolph's!) Nose! The red noses are bubblegum, which I found in a set from Poundland!

I've used my nestabilities labels one die to make the bag topper. I will be back shortly to show some of the other bits I've made. Thanks for looking. Salted Chocolate-Pecan Toffee Recipe.
