How much would an iPhone have cost in 1991?-CICTP. Amazing! Today’s iPhones have the same capabilities (and more!) Than 13 distinct electronics gadgets, worth more than $3,000, found in a 1991 Radio Shack ad. Buffalo writer Steve Cichon was the first to dig up the old ad and make the point about the seemingly miraculous pace of digital advance, noting that an iPhone incorporates the features of the computer, CD player, phone, “phone answerer,” and video camera, among other items in the ad, all at a lower price. The Washington Post‘s tech blog The Switch picked up the analysis, and lots of people then ran with it on Twitter.
Yet the comparison was, unintentionally, a huge dis to the digital economy. To see why, let’s do a very rough, back-of-the-envelope estimate of what an iPhone would have cost in 1991. In 1991, a gigabyte of hard disk storage cost around $10,000, perhaps a touch less. The mid-level iPhone 5S has 32 GB of flash memory. So 20,500 MIPS in 1991 would have cost around $620,000. But there’s more. HTML5 Website Showcase: 48 Potential Flash-Killing Demos. So you’ve heard all rumors about HTML5 would take over Adobe Flash. About Downfall, also known as “Hitler Finds Out…” or “Hitler Reacts To…” is a series of parody-subtitled videos based on a pinnacle scene from Der Untergang (2004), a German WWII drama revisiting the last ten days of Adolf Hitler’s life and eventual suicide in his Berlin underground bunker.
Due to the film’s international success and Bruno Ganz’ haunting portrayal of the Nazi dictator, numerous segments from the movie soon fell fodder to hilarious parodies on YouTube, spawning hundreds of anachronistically subtitled videos of Hitler getting upset over topical events and trivial gossip. Origin Original Clip Der Untergang is a 2004 German war epic film directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and based on the book “Inside Hitler’s Bunker.” In the climax scene, Hitler (played by Bruno Ganz) hears from his generals that the final counter-offensive against the Soviets never took place and Germany’s defeat is imminent.

Reddit visualization - YASIV. Yasiv is a visual discovery engine. reddit visualization shows how subreddits relate to each other. The data is based on subreddit description. A link between two subreddits means one has a reference to another. Thus if subreddit has a lot of subscribers but no links to related subreddits it will be flying lonely in space. You can also paste links from Reddit into the search box to visualize particular subreddit or use bookmarklet - it should work for Reddit.com also. Unlike Amazon visualization or YouTube visualization I'm not sure what to expect from this one. Trends. Consumer Reviews, Product Ratings, Compare Best Prices | Review Centre. Trustpilot. Your Internet connection's IP address is uniquely associated with the following "machine name": The string of text above is known as your Internet connection's "reverse DNS. " The end of the string is probably a domain name related to your ISP. This will be common to all customers of this ISP. But the beginning of the string uniquely identifies your Internet connection. The concern is that any web site can easily retrieve this unique "machine name" (just as we have) whenever you visit.
If the machine name shown above is only a version of the IP address, then there is less cause for concern because the name will change as, when, and if your Internet IP changes. There is no standard governing the format of these machine names, so this is not something we can automatically determine for you. Just something to keep in mind as you wander the Internet.
Snapguide Makes It Super Easy To Make And Share How-To Guides On iOS. Snapguide, which just launched on iOS, is rethinking the stodgy “How To” guide for a mobile generation. Thus far the consumption and creation of “How-To” guides on the web hasn’t been particularly groundbreaking, with SEO-optimized, paid contributor-written fare like eHow.com dominating the market. In contrast Snapguide was built to be super simple, fast and take advantage of your phone: Think of services like WikiHow as Facebook and Snapguide as Path. “eHow was a pioneer in publishing content online,” says co-founder Daniel Raffel, “but it is a lot of ‘evergreen’ [and impersonal] content.
We want to be a place where people share what they’re passionate about … ” he explains, saying that he could even envision a partnership with eHow eventually. In fact, Snapguide is so well-suited to realtime mobile that it’s not shocking that Path founder Dave Morin is one of its backers, in an illustrious line of investors that includes CrunchFund and Index Ventures.
