The ups and downs of social networks. UK | Habitat sorry for Iran Tweeting. Furniture store Habitat has apologised for causing offence after accusations it exploited unrest in Iran to drive online Twitter users to its products. Keywords - called hashtags - such as 'Iran' and 'Mousavi' were added to its messages so people searching for those subjects would see the firm's adverts. Users of the networking site reacted angrily and the posts were removed. The retailer has said the use of the hashtags was "not authorised", but declined to say who was responsible. Contributors to Twitter posted messages claiming Habitat should be "ashamed" and saying it was "piggy-backing" on the political situation in Iran. One of the controversial messages - called tweets - which appeared before being removed by Habitat, read: HabitatUK: #MOUSAVI Join the database for free to win a £1,000 gift card. In a statement Habitat said it had "never sought to abuse Twitter".

Twitter CEO: The revenue's coming soon, but I won't tell you how | Webware. At a Churchill Club event in San Francisco on Tuesday, Twitter co-founder and CEO Evan Williams brushed off--again--criticisms that the company is slow to turn on its revenue-generating engines. At first, it sounded like Williams was a bit lost on the revenue front. "We will make money, and I can't say exactly how because...we can't predict how the businesses we're in will work. " As he has before, he hinted at generating fees from sales-related Twitter content and from corporate users. But as the conversation went on, one got the impression that Williams actually has a plan. He revealed that the company is in talks with large consumer packaged good companies, and whether that's to sell the company internal services or to help the company monetize its own Twitter feeds, it's promising.
Williams said, "We're looking at Q1 for revenues. " The revenue plans aren't just ads or sponsorships. Map of Social Networks Popularity Around The World Timeline | the Oxyweb Blog. NpMarketing Blog: YouTube Nonprofit Program - our experiences. YouTube Nonprofit Program - our experiences Rick Christ from NPAdvisors e-mailed me to see if I had anything to share regarding our recent experience with the Youtube nonprofit program. Here's what I told him:We saw a tremendous jump in views to all of our videos - the highest we had ever had was 30,000 - the highest video now is more than 200,000. That's a lot of people watching an IRC produced video! As predicted, there was very, very little donation or click through traffic from youtube, even following the launch. What little was traceable via clicks wasn't much. We had been pushing our videos quite a bit as of late, so this served to jump start our efforts - we certainly do believe that Youtube (and other sites like it) are a great way to promote the work and issues that we're focused on - even if returns are hard or impossible to measure.
We had a huge increase in comments - something like 800 plus - and most of them either ignorant, stupid or just spam. Labels: Social Networking. The Message Hub.
