Easy DIY Art Collection. Lately I've been needing more geometric art pieces to compliment the pieces I already own. I love painting groupings, but it's difficult to group several detailed pieces. These simple, patterned art pieces are the perfect solution for accenting your own handmade pieces or your favorite prints and paintings from Etsy!

I made two super simple pieces and one that has more of a focal point. Each of these pieces costs less than $12 to make and under 30 minutes to complete! Here are the details... 1. This canvas only took 15 minutes to create (plus drying time). 1. This is the simplest painting ever! 1. This canvas is a little bit more of a focal point, but still looks great when paired with illustrated or patterned pieces! Here are some ideas for using these simple art pieces in your home.... 1. I’ve been traveling for the majority of the past couple weeks, so bear with me as I get back on my DIY feet… I have a really easy, fun project for you today! I was inspired by this photo (I can’t remember where it is from so if you know please tell me!).

As someone who uses a plain old pair of black earbuds, I loved the idea of adding some color by wrapping the headphone cords in embroidery thread! What you need: headphones, embroidery thread and scissors Select which colors, and how many, you want to use. Cut them longer than the headphone cord – you always need more than you think! Knot them around the headphone cord. Pick whatever color you want to start with and begin making “four” knots. That’s all there is to it! Photos by Julia. Get crafty with more of our DIY projects. I’ve been really into the menswear trend lately – I love taking pieces borrowed from a boy and giving them a feminine twist.

Then I saw this photo on tumblr and inspiration struck! I knew my next DIY project would be customizing an old denim shirt by adding a pop of colorful pattern. What you need: collared button-down shirt of your choice, pretty fabric of your choice (try old clothing you don’t wear anymore or thrift stores!) , scissors, needle, thread and safety pins. Lay the shirt flat with the collar folded up. Place the fabric on the shirt, and you can either mark on the shirt where you want the fabric to cover, or you can cut a piece of fabric that is slightly larger than that area – this is what I did. Use safety pins to attach the fabric to the shirt so it doesn’t move around as you sew. Start sewing! Once the fabric was sewn to the shirt, I went around the edges with my scissors and trimmed the excess fabric. And that’s all there is to it! Guest Post: DIY Fishtail Maxi. What you need: (all supplies can be found at Home Depot) 1. 2 x 4 – Get this cut into pieces. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Step One: Prepare to stain your wood. Step Two: Stir your stain. Step Three: Cover the whole jewelry board with stain, including the sides. Step Four: Take your nails and place them on your jewelry board where you would like them. Step Five: Once you’ve laid all your nails out and have a good idea of where your going to nail them in, measure with a measuring tape to make sure they are the same distance apart. *The bracelet nails are 3″ apart* Step Six: With a pencil, make small marks as to where the nails will go on the board. These last couple of months have involved a lot of birthdays and gift-giving. Whenever I give gifts I always like to try and get creative with the packaging to make the whole experience that much more extra special. I try and find old papers from around my home that I can recycle and objects that can add a little bit of prettiness. I have always been intrigued by spells. DIY Fabric Covered Notebook. I first found out about Willow Rose one day when I stumbled upon her adorable blog. She posted lots of stuff that inspired me creatively, so I decided to find out more about the woman behind the blog. What I found out – excitingly – is that she’s a beautiful woman living in the UK who creates neat hand-made treasures. I fell in love with these fabric covered notebooks she custom-makes for people.

All of the fabrics she personally sources herself, and she’ll even cover actual books if you’d like! I love the idea of having one of my favorite books made special by covering it in beautiful fabric. For this week’s DIY, I’ve asked Willow to show us how we can make one of these notebooks at home and she was kind enough to share =) To find out more information and see Willow’s other projects check out her boutique website.
