Here are some cool illustrations of Trollkin by Jay Axer from his DeviantArt gallery . He has been working on these for the Trollbloods book for Privateer Press' Hordes game and these images show off the great work. This sort of imagery has lots of overlap with concept art, but the product is refined to a fully rendered up piece at the end. Taking the idea of the Trollkin and fleshing out the details is what we see here in spades, all those nice lumpy bits. The images slot together the serious and comical for us, with the light hearted elements portrayed with enough seriousness to make them also cool and look dangerous.

Frictional Games
On April 18 Frictional Games joined Valve to celebrate the release of Portal 2 and wrap up our collaboration which has spanned the last few months. During this period we have worked with not only Valve, but an entire range of talented independent developers, to give gamers a unique gaming experience. Hey guys, it's workshop time! Massive Black , SixMoreVodka , Safehouse Atelier , and SteamBot Studios along with a bunch of other artists are having an art workshop in San Francisco in November. The workshop is geared at both beginner and professional artists in the entertainment, film, game, comics, illustration, and fine art industries. Some of the projects that these individuals have worked on off of the top of my head include X-Men, Tron, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim, Guild Wars 1 & 2, Magic the Gathering, Transformers 1 2 3, Left 4 Dead 2, DOTA 2, Red Dead Redemption, StarCraft 2, Diablo 3, and much more.
