DIY Lunch Bags. Check out this article on DIY lunch bags from Associated Press reporter, Jennifer Forker. You can read my quick tutorial at the end of the article to make a basic sack like the one pictured here. I used my ladybug fabric for Kokka for this project. The cotton/linen blend works really well for these kinds of projects because it is soft, but also holds its shape.

I’m really enjoying making samples for market. Look forward to showing you more soon! Note that the original link above is no longer valid, so I’m adding the instructions here: Better Than Paper Bag Supplies: Brown paper lunch bag (7-by-13-by-5 inches) 1/2 yard thick fabric (such as cotton canvas or twill) Pencil or tailor’s chalk Straight pins Pinking shears Matching thread Assembly: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. DIY Felt Crown. What kid doesn’t love a crown? All the little ones I know are simply drawn to them. I made a few of these felt crowns for our first annual BBQ this weekend when we will have little ones running around. You can make these super quick and easy, with no sewing required. Well, mostly no sew. But I know even the novice crafter can stitch a few by hand! You will need: felt (2 sheets) double sided adhesive sheets scissorscrown template (this is the one from our chalkboard crown DIY) embroidery thread and needle 1) You will need two sheets of felt. 5+6) Peel off the backing to the adhesive. 7) Apply your first strip of felt to the center. 8) Print and cut out your crown template.

Measure the crown to your child’s head and trim one point larger than his head. Thread a needle with embroidery thread in a coordinating color. Note: I also saw after I had purchased the felt for this project that you can get felt by the yard in the same array of colors. Diapers for Dolly... Hello cute peoples! Are you interested in another fun little project for the little girl/girls in your life?

One of the projects that I made as part of my Christmas sewing... were diapers for the doll that I bought for my cutie patootie grandaughter Sophie is 2 1/2 years old now and she is at that age where she loves to take bubble baths and she loves to drag everything in the tub with her! So when I saw this doll I thought it would be perfect for her. There's just something so fun about giving a doll to a little girl on Christmas isn't there? Look at her sweet little face and her molded hair!...

She reminds me of the baby dolls I used to play with as a little girl. Anyhoo... on to the dolly diapers. I used a small little print lined with white flannel for each diaper. I pre-shrunk the flannel because I know that flannel shrinks alot and I assumed Sophie would be washing these cute little diapers often and hanging them on her little clothesline to dry! I used a cute pattern found on to check it out. xx Lori. A New Outfit for Dolly... Hello out there in bloggy land! Today I'm showing you the little dress and matching bib that I sewed for Sophies new doll...who's name is officially Dolly by the way:) It's a cute little wrap around dress... using only 2 fabrics and it could be reversible if you wanted to make it that way...but first...on to the bib.

I chose a yellow Sew Cherry print and the yellow Sew Cherry solid for the bib...I also used white flannel for the back of the bib. I chose the red Sew Cherry gingham for the front of the dress and the red Sew Cherry daisies for the dress lining. I used a really cute baby bib pattern by Amy at Lots of Pink Here...thanks Amy! I copied it at only 33.3% to make it small enough for Dolly. Click here to go visit Amy and her cute blog and also to download her free pattern!

I sewed the front of the bib together and added some ric-rac... Then I layed it face down on the flannel and sewed 1/8" around the edges. I left an opening at the bottom for turning... And I cut out the flannel to match the xx. Hazelnuts: Stuffed animal sleeping bags. I've had the Flossie Teacakes stuffed animal sleeping bags Pinned for quite awhile but finally got on to making them after Cat gave me the gorgeous Heather Ross Far Far Away fabric as a gift. The pattern comes in three sizes - Daddy Bear (Teddy), Mummy Bear (Foofoo) and Baby Bear (Snooks). I don't know if Teddy is really a daddy bear (its sex varies from day to day to be honest) but the bag fits beautifully. I'd like to make a longer one to accommodate Puppy, as he fits nicely in the largest width-wise but is too long - the beauty of the pattern is that it's easily altered to accommodate a range of animals of different sizes and shapes. I bought the pink fabric from Stitchbird because I really felt that they had to be set.

Not because I like buying fabric, oh no. All the rest of the fabrics came from my stash so I feel vaguely virtuous about the whole exercise. Wonderful wall displays for Children's bedrooms.
