YOGA - a new tangle!

Usually on a day when the yoga class happens immediately before a lane swim and I can get two activities for one entry ticket. :P Attendees sometimes bring their own yoga mats rather than use what's there. Once, someone's mat had a pattern like this, thus the name 'Yoga'. Katydid's Tangled World. Sue's tangle trips: Adeline tangle. Click on the picture to see more detail.

I like things that look complicated. When I saw this I fell in love with it. I had to figure out how to draw it.This tangle was inspired by a design in a Dover book - Architectural Borders, Scrolls, and Cartouches. This is something you might see carved into stone at a church or mansion from the gilded age. It starts out with slash marks that keep the spacing even and guides you where to start and stop your double S curves. Please note - YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE PENCILED LINES OR A RULER. Sue's tangle trips: Plaited - new tangle pattern. Click on image to enlarge I came up with this pattern based on a design from a journal I got at Christmas.

Sue's tangle trips: Plaited - new tangle pattern

On the journal it's a little more complicated but it wasn't too hard to break down. It has certain aspects that remind me of 'Crescent Moon' and a few other tangles. It doesn't have to be done exactly as shown. I hope everyone will have fun with it and add their own interpretation. Sue's tangle trips: Bumps tangle pattern. I finally decided it was time to refine it and name it. Sue's tangle trips: 'Jilli' - new tangle pattern. I enjoy going on my "tangle trips".

I look at buildings, I look at carpeting, I look, well, everywhere. This pattern was in the wallpaper at a hotel. Tanglefish: Moose — Part Deuce and Paushalöv. C-Gal and I have been busy adding tangles to Micro Moose.

Tanglefish: Moose — Part Deuce and Paushalöv

We are learning as we go--sometimes the curve of the sculpture throws us for a loop and our pen does not move across the surface as we intended. Gesso is our friend! It allows us to have fun and take risks, and if they don't work out well, or if lines need tweaking, we can re-do or tweak. This is not an aspect of my every-day Zentangle practice, but I don't mind adding that to my ZIA repertoire for use under circumstances that merit it--and this circumstance does, I feel. Check out this video that we made! Moose has even more tangles now! The auction ends soon!!! C-Gal also made a Valentine featuring dansk this week.

Zendala Dare 41

If you have looked at my dare posts before you will notice that I now have a BLOG. Hopefully this will make it easier for folks to leave comments ;-) The template for this dare was provided by Erin at The Bright Owl. I really liked this template and found it easy to decide what tangles to use. This is the smallest template - the 3.5 inch sqare. How to draw HEARTROPE. By Linda Farmer, CZT Okay, so it’s a month early but today IS the 14th so here’s a Valentine-inspired tangle pattern for you to play with for a bit.

How to draw HEARTROPE

Heartrope is from Canadian tangler Bunny Wright from the big eastern Toronto ‘burb of Oshawa, Ontario – widely known as the home of General Motors Canada and the birthplace of the famous Canadian thoroughbred racehorse Northern Dancer. PIA - a new tangle! Late this past summer I taught some Zentangle classes at the 2012 Paint in Alberta convention.

If you are new to Zentangle please see the first Related Link below, “The Importance of Strings”. Bear in mind that Zentangle® strings are guidelines. You can use a string exactly as it is or adapt it to suit as your Zentangle grows. Start with the string as it’s shown then, as you go, combine sections if your tangles want to, or divide a section into smaller ones.

Please help our community’s String resource grow by sending me yours to share – I’m always looking for new submissions. How to draw PALREVO. By Linda Farmer, CZT Here’s a very cool grid-based tangle pattern from Karry Heun who recently shared Sand Swirl with us. Can you figure out how Palrevo came by its name? It wasn’t until I sat down to draw it that the penny dropped for me. If you’ve been here with me for a while you’ll remember that grid-based tangles are my favorites and Palrevo is so interesting to do. I found balancing light and dark while filling in the random L-shapes quite an intriguing process. Zentangle Newsletter. Tangled Planet: MIANDER. MIANDER is a pattern that keeps appearing in my tangles. It can grow in any direction depending on how you turn your tile. Shaded or unshaded, it’s a fun pattern to try. It resembles the official Zentangle® pattern , but in a square kind of way, as you’ll see if you follow along.

First, begin with a square. Add a triangle on each side. Merry Christmas, you two! COPADA, a new tangle. Copada runs along the top of this ZIA tile. I find the onion domes create a lovely echo of the pattern. I've collected quite a number of possible tangle names from those strange 'words' that proved I wasn't a robot, before the 'words' became seriously peculiar. From that list I had half a dozen possible names for this pattern, so I polled my household. Here's Copada. How to draw CLE. By Linda Farmer, CZT CZT® Jodi Ferrini is one of the graduates of the August CZT#9 class.

She named her tangle CLE, “the airport code for Cleveland, Ohio” as she’s from that area. Precious Worker: New tangle "Camelia" Since I saw the first camelia blooming on our bush yesterday, I decided to call this tangle after it. Whilst this design may seem a bit complex, it is a nice flowing one to get lost in. It lends itself to variations, eg. leave out the grid and you have a nice line of movement. As you can see, I'm still going with my colour wash back grounds..so many of them to put tangles on!! I actually completed the watecolour fish too.. One thing in particular I like about watercolour pencils is the gradient effect that's easy to obtain as you wet the colour , then brush it along to weaken in strength as you go.
