While this blog has sat silent for many, many months, I have still been continuing my Cataclysmic adventures in World of Warcraft. I have been raiding (very successfully!) with my guild on Khadgar-US, and I am still able to consistently put out DPS that rivals many other classes in my guild. As we don’t have any other Druid Kitties in the guild (although we do have some wonderful Druid Bears) people often ask me how I do what I do, and why. I have finally decided after many years to put together a post including my “rotation”, how it optimizes my DPS, and what each move does in the most simplistic terms.

Normally I save these review looking, post-mortem type posts until a month or two before a new expansion is being released, but it feels appropriate to do Cata's now. For one, I've almost "beat the game." My guild is currently 7/8 HM DS, and I will be upset if we don't have Heroic Madness down in the next week or two. Second, Blizzard is giving almost every indication that they can that Cataclysm is over. They have already done three "Post-Mortem" blog posts focusing on systems , encounters , and quests , and with the MoP press event happening this week you can bet that all attention will be focused on the next expansion starting Monday the 19th. So, I would like to take this opportunity and look back at what I think worked or didn't work, before it's completely irrelevant (if it isn't already).

Following up from an earlier post and Alaron's great recent post on the topic , I thought I'd talk about the futility of changing secondary stats given the current model. So before - in that time when Alaron talked about the difference between Agility and Arpen - secondary stats varied all over the place. Agility was not as good as it is now (it only offered 1 AP), strength was fairly good, and the real debate for high-end druids was whether to go arpen-crazy or go agility.

The goal of this project and method is to create an adaptive Feral Cat DPS measurement, stat balancing, and item ranking tool. Unlike other static gear ranking sites (or pawn scales), the model accepts your own cat form stats in the calculations, providing more applicable and accurate information than would be possible with a static ranked list of items. Toskk's Model The new model is a first attempt at a more 'uptime' style of model. Instead of a linear attack cycle, the model attempts to maximize the uptime on all of the important buffs and bleeds, including Mangle, Rake, Rip, and Savage Roar.
Implemented in WotLK Patch 3.0, Avoidance (i.e. dodge chance and parry chance) is now subject to a diminishing returns formula. In effect, the formula gradually reduces the avoidance gain per stat point from stats giving avoidance (i.e. the more Agility, Dodge Rating, and Defense Rating you have, the less and less dodge chance you get from continuing to increase those stats). Each avoidance 'pool' (i.e. dodge chance or parry chance) is treated separately, rather than each stat, thus splitting your dodge chance up between Agility, Dodge Rating, and Defense Rating does not work to avoid diminishing returns. The formula for calculating dodge chance after diminishing returns (for a Druid only) is: Dodge chance (with DR) = 1 / ((1 / 116.890707) + (0.9720 / (dodge_from_items_and_buffs))) + base_dodge_and_dodge_from_base_stats_and_talents Note: the two constants in the formula are only correct for Druids and dodge chance.

I just finished Fable 3 and I'm pissed. Long story short; I got screwed when the game advanced too quickly and removed my ability to choose how to finish the game. Rest of this post contains broad spoilers about the structure of the game and the main events. I don't think it'd ruin the game for you, but if you want to play Fable 3 with no idea what happens, stop reading. (Personally I give the game a 3 out of 5, definitely skippable.) The main story arc is in two parts.

Your modern tank has high health and many mitigation/avoidance cooldowns. May even have self-heals. Way to go, tools in the toolbox, AoE threat, very nice, very nice. If everyone else dies, you can survive in some cases for minutes, all by yourself.

This is what you often experienced below level 60, and often such game play style was what made you choose your druid in the first place. We are but at the beginning of this long and laboring return to "our origins" and the purpose of this guide is to help the druid that wants to play like a multi-role class to optimise his / her performance in 20-40 men raid instances. This guide, on the contrary, is not about being a viable tank, DPS or healer, these are "single role" ways of playing that are covered already by other stickied guides; please check them out in case of need.
