Obama’s YouTube Q&A ignores top-voted marijuana question. By Eric W.
DolanMonday, January 30, 2012 19:08 EDT President Barack Obama was not asked a question about marijuana legalization during his “Your Interview With the President” event Monday, despite the fact that it was the most popular one asked. As part of the White House’s ongoing social media engagement initiatives, Americans were given the chance to submit questions to the president, which others could vote on. Obama answered some of the most popular questions during a virtual interview from the West Wing of the White House, but declined to respond to the most popular video.
That video was submitted by Stephen Downing, a board member for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP). “Mr. 5 Reasons Why you Shouldn't Vote for Obama in 2012. During the 2008 Presidential election, I was labeled by many of my fellow college classmates, and friends, as a ‘voting activist.’
The reasoning behind this was because I frequently brought up the subject of politics and asked many of them if they planned to vote. Many of whom I asked, did have plans to vote and also didn’t hesitate to inform me that they planned to vote for Obama. Given the media frenzy at the time (especially with my 18-24 age demographic); their response was anything but a surprise. Very politely, and in a non-threatening way, I questioned their reasoning behind their decision to back Barack Obama. To which they excitedly replied with the typical, media-brainwashed way of thinking, “Because this country desperately needs change and I believe Obama will do just that.” Naturally, their exact explanations differed somewhat, but they all pointed in the same general direction.
