ICENTRE incubatee John Harith Technology is looking at global deployment of its RFID (Radio frequency identification) Halal Traceability System sometime this year after it signed a memorandum of collaboration (MoC) with Malaysian firm Smartag Solutions Bhd.

THE BRUNEI TIMES 02/02/12 Local firm to deploy halal traceability system this year

John Harith, which specialises in RFID technology, last month signed an agreement with Smartag Solutions to use the latter's Smartrack software for its halal traceability project during the local deployment phase. "Through this collaboration, we will be able to further develop the halal traceability software application on top of Smartrack. This makes Smartrack the engine for the project," said John Lim, General Manager of John Harith Technology. The local firm was recently awarded a pilot project to develop a halal traceability and supply chain management system for the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

PLOS 02/10/15 Modeling and Implementation of Cattle/Beef Supply Chain Traceability Using a Distributed RFID-Based Framework in China. Abstract In recent years, traceability systems have been developed as effective tools for improving the transparency of supply chains, thereby guaranteeing the quality and safety of food products.

PLOS 02/10/15 Modeling and Implementation of Cattle/Beef Supply Chain Traceability Using a Distributed RFID-Based Framework in China

In this study, we proposed a cattle/beef supply chain traceability model and a traceability system based on radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and the EPCglobal network. First of all, the transformations of traceability units were defined and analyzed throughout the cattle/beef chain. Secondly, we described the internal and external traceability information acquisition, transformation, and transmission processes throughout the beef supply chain in detail, and explained a methodology for modeling traceability information using the electronic product code information service (EPCIS) framework.

Personal and Ubiquitous Computing May 2013, Relation model describing the effects of introducing RFID in the supply chain: evide

RFID has become more and more important in the context of supply chain management (SCM), and implementation of RFID in SCM brings with it the potential to manage the information flow and to support communication and collaboration along the supply chain. This study was conducted to build a relation model, which is a structural model, to identify the effects of introducing RFID into the supply chain of the food and beverage industry in Korea. The supply chain of the food and beverage industry was divided into five activities: procurement, production, transport, sale, warehousing, and administration. This study was based on the premise that RFID will be embedded in a transport box or pallet circulated in the SC.

RFID-based meat track and traceability system involves data acquisition of meat circulation information among the Distribution Points (DP) and the lifecycle traceability from customers to distributors and finally to manufacturers.

Computer Application and System Modeling (ICCASM), 2010 International Conference on 22-24 Oct. 2010 Research on RFID-based meat

The traceability system is established based on the distribution network of the enterprise, with each distribution point is deployed with RFID system. It acquires data from the products with RFID tag and then connects them into data flow of product circulation. The traceability system works from customers back to manufacturer, by connecting to ONS server of RFID system via Internet to get the IP address of PML server at each product-related point and to obtain the circulation information of the product accordingly. Meanwhile, it facilitates the monitoring and management of product flow from authorities and recall of products if necessary. Conventional methods of traceability while reasonably successful are not without their disadvantages. These include potential damage and limited data capacity in the case of bar codes, unacceptable delays incurred through the use of DNA sampling and finally inapplicability of on biometric technologies due to permanent detachment post mortem.
