China anuncia su propio sistema operativo para móviles basado en GNU/Linux. Uno de los tres operadores más importantes de China, hablamos de China Unicom, ha anunciado que está desarrollando un sistema operativo móvil, que competirá con el de Apple y el de Google.
Lo han bautizado como WoPhone, está basado en Linux y pensado tanto para smartphones como para tablets. China Unicom ha asegurado en un comunicado que espera que WoPhone ayude a la compañía a desarrollar dispositivos inalámbricos 3G más rápidamente, así como llevarlos al mercado también más rápido, algo importante en un momento en que el mercado inalámbrico 3G está despegando en la región. Sobra decir que en la actualidad, iOS y Android son dos de las plataformas más fuertes del mercado occidental, pero ambos sistemas están empezando ganar cuota de mercado en China, lugar donde Symbian es la que lidera el sector con un 60,1% de cuota en el mercado de smartphones.
