Whatever can be found on intuitive steampunk design will be collected here. From models just for show, or what would be more interesting, actual working models.

Working Steampunk Laptop. Working steampunk firearms. Strange Hours Atelier. One of the things that I like most about going to Steampunk events is that I get to meet people that I've known online for years–in person for the first time. Earlier this year the city of Waltham, Massachusetts hosted The Interntional Steampunk City event.

This was a city-wide celebration of everything Steampunk to benefit The Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation. But a highlight of this event for me was getting to meet Chronographia von Strangehours of Strange Hours Atelier. Chronographia brought with her some of the most amazing hats and we had a nice time hanging out and talking about all snd sundry, but mostly Doctor Who which turns out to be a shared interest!

Click through for a gallery of awesome hats! The Owl Aviator hat! I'll bet these are really hard to keep in stock! M. I particularly like this one, so elegant! Somehow this one seems to be LOOKING at you! Heart of Iron - Ekaterina Sedia. Etching Tins with Salt Water and Electricity - Compliment to The Steampunk Bible Article. The Steampunk Bible contains an article I wrote on etching small candy tins with salt water and electricity. There was limited space in the book so we've provided this expanded compliment article to help you should you be interested in trying this project, enjoy! In the past, merchants used sealed cans and boxes made from the metal tin for many products.

Variable shipping methods, and the indeterminate time that a product might remain on the shelf, meant that a durable container made a great deal of sense. These “tins” of old had a certain utility after their contents had been eaten or otherwise consumed. In this project, I’ll show you how to turn plain toffee and mint tins into beautiful boxes suitable for display. What You Will Be Doing Cautions and Advice This process requires chemicals and heat as well as electricity and water. When using any sort of chemical, you should always read and be sure you understand all of the warnings provided by the manufacturer. Time: an hour or two. Mystic Radio - Hendrick's Gin Curate a Box Give Away.

Nearly a year ago the nice folks at Hendrick's Gin contacted me to see if I'd like to do a box for their "Curate a Box" contest give away. Well, I had never tasted their product so I demurred until I had a chance to sample it at last year's SteamCon in Seattle. In fact fellow SPWS editor Libby Bulloff and I consumed quite a bit of it while we prepped for our "Queering Steampunk Fashion" panel. The box is finally done and you should keep an eye out at Unusual Times to find out how you can win it! The hardest part was coming up with a concept for the box. I knew I was going to etch a brass plate for it, but etch it with what? To the 'stream of consciousness' mobile! My friend and fellow SPWS editor Annie Dennisdottir Wright likes Hendrick's Gin Annie is from Iceland and has a really cool Vegvísir tatooAnnie's Vegvísir reminded me of electronic schematics{google image search} Whoa!

And there you go, that is how my brain works. And thus the official artist's statement: The Steampunk Workshop | Technology & Romance - Fashion, Style, & Science.
