Rubber Stamping on Polymer Clay 1. There are a number of polymer clays available, Fimo being the easiest to get in Britain (where I live). The only problem with Fimo is that it is very crumbly to begin with and requires a lot of working in the hands (rolling and kneading) to get it to a useful consistency. For the purposes of stamping, a softer clay such as Sculpey or Cernit is preferable.
Note that although paper clay is a different material, and much lighter and more delicate than the oven bake (polymer) clays, most of the following can be done with that too, as well as other air-dry clays. Always follow the manufacturer's baking instructions, as the clays may vary a little. There are several methods of stamping into oven bake clay. When you bake your item, you can leave it flat, or curve it, curl the edges, etc. - which can look very effective for a stamping of a leaf on autumnal colours, for example.
Next Page Polymer Clay Central Home page. Fragments. Fragments By Jenny Dowd I love the antique effects we can get with very little effort using polymer clay, textures and acrylic paints. I also love making buttons, so I've combined both for this month's technique. The buttons are meant to resemble 'fragments' or 'shards' of broken carved antiquities and are great fun to make. You could also very easily turn them into earrings, pins, or elements in a necklace or bracelet. You will need: Polymer clay of your choice in either white or beige (ecru) and some translucent if you want to make faux ivory as the base. To start, condition your clay and roll into a rough shaped ball. Tear off a piece about the size of your thumbnail and flatten with your fingers until it is the size and thickness you want.
Don't worry about fingerprints, as these will be sanded off later. If you want to make faux ivory, you'll need to roll a snake of beige/ecru and one of translucent. At this point you will need to make buttonholes if desired. Hmmmmm. - (note: before pressing, you can dip the tools in a bit of water, it will keep them from sticking to the clay) 3.- Corta los bordes, que se habrán deformado un poco.
